By boss is taking a back seat in the company and has never liked computers and hense never had a web page . as i will soon be 'improving' the company with my leadership , i wish to join the 21st century and get one of these web page thingmy gimiys./duh

Any members who do web page designs and setting up or even know about them please could you pass on some info as i feel the company is losing many customers due to the non activity on the net.

We are not a big company but a very recognised one around the area with so much more to give.

Cheers Dave

Think Jason (foxdie ) is the best bet , he works for an ISP

I can also do most bits and pieces on websites etc

If you want to do it yourself there are quite a few progams available. I used Website X5 to build my girlfriends and I am (as NJ will testify ) a bit of a lemon on computers. My sister who has a masters in IT was so impressed she uses it to build sites now.

I depends on exactly what you are trying to achieve. If you just want a site that people that know the company can visit for further information or product info then fine, but I'd you are trying to get business from other parts of the country, its pointless spending money on a site that doesn't appear anywhere. You will either need to market it or spend money on search engine optimisation or adwords. You will not suddenly get extra business just because you have a site, so dependinhg on what you are after, you may be as well to spend minimal amount + more on getting it up google. A blog is a very quick, cheap easy place to start that can be done very easily. Pm me what you are after + I can happily point you in the right direction

I have used http://www.moonfruit.com/ in the past and found it very easy to make a site. The online editor is layed out and simple to use. Might be worth having a bash on there for 5 mins and seeing what you can come up with. Examples of sites made using moonfruit - http://www.coastalcreative.co.uk/ http://www.thefoodbible.net/ and http://www.louiseredknapp.net/

It is ok for basic site but it is all in flash, so you can't optimise it properly & it can take a while to load on some machines. I agree though, as a first site or just for an extra place to get information, it is worth a look. Basically, if you can use a program like Microsoft Publisher, you should be able to use this. If you want to get your page up the listings on search engines though, you can't beat a page done in code (flash is near impossible to optimise, & even though moonfruit allows you to use live text, you can only input meta data & keywords for the entire site, rather than individual pages. H tags & headings are a nightmare aswell)
