View Full Version : Noisy new exhaust

Why does my NEW stainless steel exhaust make more noise on the inside of the car than the outside (only around 2000 RPM) when I specifically asked for a quite replacement? Any ideas?

just return and ask for another inline silencer!

The joys of one off exhaust fabricators!!!

Or ask for the rear box to be packed more lightly..

Do you have any pics of the system ?

Miller, have you been down this road before? The "original" system had two inline silences but the new one has only one, albeit bigger.

Most of us have been down that road. 2 resonators are better than 1, but it's the way they are packed that makes the big difference. If they are packed tightly then the sound won't be deadened as well. The lighter they are packed the better for quietness. Aned yes it will become quieter with time as it cokes up.. But not alot quieter. Just not quite so tinny.

had one made for my GTO back in the day, i was back three times afterwards to sort out the droning...and that was a manual. Hence why i purchased a properly tested and designed system for the Legnum especially as it was an auto.

Also agree - 2 inline silencers as a minimum to reduce droning in the cabin.

I had one silencer on my old Legnum and the drone was headache producing after a long journey. :thumbsdow

yeah ive got to do something about that now,

the fujitsubo i have on the blue one is much better
