Shocked to read this didnt hear anything till now,one of the best entertaining snooker players of all time. R.I.P. Alex,the peoples champion.

OMG!!! i knew that he was ill, but i didnt realise how ill he was.

snooker has lost a true legand. he's one of the main reasons why i watched snooker in the first place.

He used to play pool for the Railway pub (in Ramsbottom) in the early 90's - he lived nearby. I played against that team once - not against the man himself. He was a gentleman, very charismatic & very drunk & for that night at least, utter gash at pool.

paddy got me new a/c control thing from scrappers and the lights on the rear screen /mirrors light up (£10) better than mi worn one !!

Just looking at some of the stuff on youtube about him. What summed him up best is 'Alex Higgins - Rebel Without a Pause'. Flawed but genius nonetheless.

i was watching when he did his famous shot when he went for middle pocket and it bounced onto the cushion rolled up to top pocket and went in it was allowed to because the ball never left the table can't seem to find it on youtube and can't remember who he was playing
