Out and about on the bus today bumbling round the little vilages of rural oxfordshire taking old biddies shopping. I had just finished a run and was about to go on my break when on the side of the road was an older gentleman (70's) struggling to change a tire, so i stopped and changed it for him took all of five minutes and he was amazed when i turned down his offer of a fiver! Is there so little common decency left that people think they have to pay for a little help?

I think theres a lot more kindness in the world than people give credit for...

Only the bad is reported in the media so its more in your face i guess!

There is also an element of dignity involved - Whilst I'd be extremely grateful for the help, I'm a man (with testicles full of pride, even at 70+) so I'd still want to prove my independance by offering money. :)

And how much does this pride cost...?

And 70+ sounds like it's illegal...

I know what you mean, spent a lot of time with a little old lady on a planting plan for her new garden the other day and some pruning advice. She was determined to slip me cash, didn't take it because that's what I'm paid for. I'm not sure if it's as mentioned above the media taints peoples view and people being kind surprises them or, a lot of the time someone will expect to be paid for being human?

No but it could be, there are some nice looking birds in there. And the best part is - they're all in New Zealand :)
