possible sticky sliders/pistons

Sticky something!

Either your pistons or pins could be sticking rather than sliding smoothly. That can lead to pads not releasing properly from the disc when you release the brake pedal. It drags on the disc, thus wearing faster.

If you have replaced the pads, did you notice pistons or pins not sliding smoothly?

Look at the seal on the guide pins to see if it's perished. Also the guide pins can become coroded( pitting in the surface) What may move fairly freely by hand when cold, can easily stick under pressure when hot /yes If the guide pins are not allowing the pads to move back away from the disc when off the brake pedal, this will wear the pads..

PS.. Make sure you use the correct grease also /yes

What Wodj said. If the grease on the pins is no longer greasy, then clean and replace. A smear of HIGH TEMP grease is what you want - mine is a lithium based jobby supplied by Don of Amsoil fame.
