Hi all,

Has any non VR4 V6 owner ever had their ECU remapped at all? Or had a chip
replacement? I am not after extra power, even though it would be nice, but
for throttle response.

I notice that the pull in 2nd gear is OK but the revs rise quite slowly... theres
no rally style easy revving feeling :dozey: ... Now this could be due to Auto/Tip box or maybe the fact I am now driving a waaagon which is obv heavier than the saloon I had before. (Or the power, which I can't do much about  )

Any manual v6 24 drivers out there esp waagon drivers out there comment on 2nd gear pick up?

In the old days of my cavalier SRi 130 and carlton 3000 gsi24v, K&N filter, splitfire and head de coke used to work wonders :p

hmm memories

second gear can be a bit slow - must be quite a wide ratio - but after 3500rpm it takes off.

as for remapping dunno - but when i got min on the rolling road last year, the operator recommended a dastek piggy back chip / ecu to sort fuelling / improve torque / get abit more power

seen a big ad for them in this month performance jap - £300 +fitting / mapping

is it worth it?????

Cheers for that Ritch,

I hear that its all about the setup and that is the bit that can cost...

I drove a manual saloon back in 2000 but I didn't wring the gearbox as I
was on a Mitsubishi Test Drive :-D

I may head to my local sales office and ask to try one :-)

I found it interesting reading about the difference in behaviour swapping the manual and auto/tip ECUs in another thread a couple of days ago on here..
