So i am planning to replace the lights in Maxus's climate control unit in his VR4 with LED's using this guide (http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12907&highlight=a/c) We are going to buy 4 of these LED's (http://www.rapidonline.com/sku.aspx?tier1URL=Electronic-Components&tier2URL=Optoelectronics&tier3URL=5mm-LEDs&tier4URL=5mm-Ultra-high-brightness-15-deg-LEDs&moduleno=73421&catref=55-2484&vat=1) I just need to know what resisters to use with these LED's. I can do most things when it comes to electronics, but i am useless trying to calculate the Ohmage i need to lower the voltage from 14v to 3.6v hehe.

Any help would be appreciated, also if any of you guys know of a good place to buy electronic components preferably in the UK then let me know =D

Cheers!

The resistor value, R is given by: R = (VS - VL) / I

VS = supply voltage
VL = LED voltage (usually 2V, but 4V for blue and white LEDs)
I = LED current (e.g. 10mA = 0.01A, or 20mA = 0.02A)

or

http://pcbheaven.com/drcalculus/index.php?calc=leds

Calculate at 14volts =)

Here is a word of advice,
when replacing the led in the climate contol unit, follow these recomendations.
1. you can replace all the bulbs with leds in the unit without problems, just ensure you buy 12v version of the T4 and T5 led bulbs.
2. however i find the main display leds are too bright and cause 2 bright spot on the control dispaly screen, these t5 led usually come with a flat top to dispers the brightness of the led to try and stop the bright spot problem (but they do not) what i would recomend is get some 120 grit sandpaper and rub the flat top of the led to make the end of the led cloudey. this will dispers the light better and avoid the bright spot.
hope this helps

i found these I reckon they are fit for the job http://makersify.com/products/copy-of-prewired-5mm-leds-for-12v-in-a-range-of-colours-1

only do these in red, green and blue

but these 3mm ones come in white http://makersify.com/products/prewired-3mm-leds-for-9-12v-in-a-range-of-colours

£5 for a pack of 10
