anyone no how to fix it? i no it can be found online but i dont have any of the crap thats needed and none of what there going on about makes sence to me..... HELP!!! very not happy right now it died right in the middle of MW2 time

thanks for the help unfortunatly didnt work i need to pull it apart and coat some square things with sum white stuff in a tube and use a hair dryer thats rated to 300deg of sumthing??? i duno thats why i was hoping to find a computer geek on here to help lol

From my understanding RLOD is due to overheating. I beleve its similar to RROD from the xbox owners.

THe white stuff is heatsink paste, its a thermal compound which allows the square things to pull away the heat from the hot processors.

I havnt read too far into it but i know the xbox guys have to get a heatgun/hairdriar and heat up the compnents so the solder joins melt and re-set.

I would be more than willing to take a look for you if you were in my neck of the woods. Unfortunatly your not.

What kind of PS3 is it dude (ie original hard drive size??)

40g i've had it for awhile just dont have the cash to replace or take it to a shop. where would i find the thermal compound from and round about how much is it worth?

turns out it was $27 for artic silver... me in the mrs giving it a shot at fixing now.... fingers crossed

Yeah, Arctic Silver is top of the line though, but just so long as it did the trick :)
