Gear box issues, can any one help??

Hi Just wondering if any knows what is going on with my 5 spd auto legnum,

some times it works fine and other times it just wont go anywhere,

when it wont go anywhere the drive and the neutral light stay on together and number 1 gear light goes off,

if i put it back in neutral and then back to drive it seems to be fine, could it be as simple as a cable adjustment??

any ideas any one???? thanks for any help

I would check the fault codes as it could simply be a speed sensor working intermittently

Have you checked the oil level and what colour is the oil? Have you reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery and seeing if it gets better or worse?

Sound like the electrical fault. Check the inhibitor switch connector. If there's a moist down there, or one of the pins is defect, it will do things like that /yes

i think i got it sorted, just a cable adjustment, working mint now but the engine cuts out at idle in neutral in drive it is fine, any ideas guys??

Don't use neutral! :D

Unless you mean it does it in P as well.



Perhaps you should perform a battery reset, then start the car, idle it with the aircon on for a bit - may well stabilise the idle.
