Been a bit busy of late, so I'd thought I'd get the car out of the shed and take it on a small cruise /rally .... The route >> http://tinyurl.com/2avabvz.

10days prep should see us ready to go. There is a 1000km section and a 1800km section where there is no 98RON fuel, so we'll drag an extra 220litres of fuel with us during these legs.

This is a 9week cruise and with a couple of off the beaten track detours which should see us covering about 14,000km, after we finish this we'll need a holiday so we're going to spend a few weeks in the Maldives relaxing, total time off work 14weeks :mexicanwav :mexicanwav :mexicanwav

And to make the preparations even a little more hectic, I get married next Saturday.... /juggle

I'll update the thread with cruise pictures as/when we have internet access, if you don't see any updates, don't stress as we'll be in some extremely remote areas :skull: :skull:

So the car is being prepped for the trip, which includes a Full Service, new 1200kg Tow Hitch has been fitted.

Electric Trailer Brakes Controller, Anderson Plug. Twin Battery Solenoids are being installed in the car in the morning

We've purchased this trailer/fuel tanker/hotel to accomodate the extra 220litres of PULP fuel, additionally where we are going there is vast areas where no accomodation is available.

Just saw the route! Wowser!

Save some time for the Ningaloo reef! I drove the west coast and east coast in 2003. Still to date one of the best adventures of my life! The west coast was the best due to its remoteness and not so many backpackers!

That is very well done Kat :) In that 1800km section with no 98 octane you'll have about 280 litres of fuel, I'm sure that will be more than enough even with the trailer in tow.

Sorry I don't have more pics as all the photo's are in raw format with the photographer.

We covered a quick 1400km yesterday. picked up the trailer. got all the inspections done for roadworthyness and the trailer is registered /rally /rally /rally .

Attended a washmeet with guys from the victorian branch of ozvr4 last night. (pic's soon)/grouphug /grouphug /grouphug

Today is a short driving day /Steeringw /Steeringw ..... about 400km along the great ocean road to Portland near the Victorian/South Australian border. We'll spend a few hours getting the trailer sorted and packed and working out hour to erect it (we took the lazy option last night and stayed in a hotel.... just to stuffed from the drive)

Well quite a bit has transpired since my last post !! I don't recall breaking a mirror or killing a black cat, but lady luck is trying her hardest to pee on my party...

We didn't make it to Murray Bridge on the friday, about 50km short Mt Gambier in South Australia we broke a CV joint and limped into town, booked into a motel and unhitched the trailer, took the car to the local Ripsubishi dealer, they stripped the passenger side drive shaft out of the car and put the drive shaft on a bus to Adelaide to be re-conditioned by a drive shaft specialist, being told the car would be ready to go by 10am tuesday morning.

On sunday afternoon we received a call that our beloved cocker spaniel - PC had been found paralysed and rushed to our vet.... paralysis tick, our vet administered the anti serum and said that it didn't look good, but that he'd do everything he could to save him and that he'd know on monday morning whether the anti serum was working !!... Talk about feeling helpless... 1200km from home with our boy's life in the balance.... first thing monday morning Nat rang the vet and PC had died during the night........

Good to they're word the car was ready @ 10am on tuesday and we got home in a lil over 10hours to bring or boy home, we laid him to rest and planted a pear tree to shade his resting place (fresh pears were his all time favourite treat).

Our 2 bitches were very traumatised (they were found standing over PC howling/crying) and we sat at home greiving with them till last monday, we decided that we'd bring the girls with us and set off again, this time we decided we'd head north and reverse the direction of the trip so that the cyclone season didn't affect the trip.

First stop was Coffs Harbour on the NSW north coast, second day saw us on the QLD Gold Coast visiting our grand daughter and grand son (they grow up way to quick) we spent 2 days on the gold coast, next stop was hervey bay / fraser island for 2days (weather was crap), but we enjoyed the trip out to fraser island and the 130kph blat along the beach.......

Yesterday we left hervey bay and headed for rockhampton on the tropic of capricorn, about 50km up the road doing a lil over 110kph, a kangaroo decided that he want to be a legnum hood emblem, no time to react or avoid it, t-boned dead centre, cosmetically destroyed the front bumper and shattered the tow hook cover, mechanically, bent the intercooler, bent the the A/C condensor, split the A/T cooler and put a nice lil bend in the crash bar, so we limped into rockhampton stopping every 40km to add 2litres of ATF (luckly i had 20 litres of Mitsi SPIII in the trailer for my routine 9000km A/T flush), stopped at a auto parts store and bought a new A/T cooler, booked into a caravan park and started stripping the front of the car down to patch her back together and get us back on the road.... in the morning I'll go to the Ritsubishi dealer and get another 4x 5litre box of SPIII.....

Tomorrow we'll head for Mackay (about 350km from here) checking on our repairs, fingers crossed no more dramas before we head into the never never (outback)

I'll update this thread when we have internet access again......

RIP our beautiful boy.......:sweethear

Skippy rot in hell :satan:

What an adventure! Sorry to hear about PC.

Hope the rest of the trip is eventful only in good ways.
