I am in a major quandry.

Having recently taken up a new contract in Swindon I need to drive "The Beast" some 100 miles a day (what joy I hear you cry). However, I am finding the lumbar-support to be pretty much non-existent and it is getting to the point now that my back 'spasms' every time I get into my P & J. Have bought a lumbar role from local physio but it has had little effect.

Has anyone else experienced same? If so how have you overcome it?

Are we talking about the cloth Recaro seats?

I find the main problem with those seats is that they are too shallow where your bum is and your legs are pushed up.
In general I don't find it much of a problem although I can't say they are the best configuration for me. One time when I was stuck in stop start traffic for a long time I started figiting.. by the end my back was killing me!!! and I don't suffer from back pain at all normally.
I think the problem would be solved by a small pillow to lift the back up more.

Hello mate,

This is the exact same problem I had when I first got the car, (I have the leather seats) and I looked into all the possible add on lumbar cushions. Then one day, my back stopped aching. I don't know if I just got used to it or it mattered less as I started going to the gym regularily.

I've got to drive to North Wales on Monday, so I suppose I'll find out if it's really gone once I get there :D

If it helps I found these places....

I find my VR4 Leather seats the most comfy
I have/did spend hours driving up north taking up to 6.5 hours and got out the car with not a problem no bum ache or back ache

Did the trip in a Scooby Legacy once and it was a nightmare had to keep shifting about on the seat to get the feeling back

Buy an old Volvo 740 with the leather electic adjustable seats and stick the miles on that. (£500-£600) + 28mpg.

Comfiest seats I've ever sat in. ;) The miles just drift away.

HEy all,

I have had awful backache in my VR4 since I bought it, and I drive for up to 9 hours a day some days, stopping only about once.

I am seriuosly considering putting in a set of aftermarket seats,

Anyone have any knowledge of what aftermarket seats are good, and how easy they are to fit into the VR4???
