A few people have recently asked about getting bumpers off and I've done this so often now on my car, its become 2nd nature! But for those tackling it first time, its ridiculously nerve wracking considering there are so many bolts and clips holding them in place!
So I thought I'd post a few pictures to show where each of these bumpers connects to the car.
Front bumper (its a UK spec GLS bumper, but the mounting points are all the same)

Rear bumper (ignore the twin exhaust cutout)

38838
38837
38835
38834
38833

Some points to note that on the VR4, there are two ridiculously hard bolts do undo/redo. On the front, the last bolt on the driver side is very awkward due to the fact that the water tank is there! You need a double extension on the ratchet to even get close to it!
And on the rear bumper, same driver side, the last bolt at the bottom of the bumper is very awkward to get to because the AYC gubbins is in the way. You can see six tabs on the rear bumper, and these also need to come off. Make sure the tabs dont snap off when you take the bumper off. They actually help the bumper retain its shape when fitted to the car. Without the tabs, the top of the bumper would sag and not sit straight with the tailgate.
But for the most part, just get the 10mm bolts of and give the bumpers a good firm tug and it should pull away.
Hope that helps...
