Hey guys. upon realising that I'm coming up 21 I'm deciding that its time to start buying toys. e.g a dirt bike, kayak possibly a jet ski as well. However this is where the issue is my legnum doesn't have a tow bar. I've seen a few threads about them but none really helpful. Does anybody know if you can find a legnum tow bar if you can just bolt it on. Or does it require more work also if so does anybody know of any lying around or for sale?

This comes to a problem that I should fix first though. After sober driving last night with a full car load I noticed if i put my foot down after 3krpm It would fly through the rev range guessing the clutch is slipping. but I cant get it to do it unless I have a full car. Is this normal? is it just because of the extra load on the car with the weight etc. and If it is the clutch Does anybody know how to do them up here as I know the CHCH guys do. I realise It'll be a day job or 2 so could provide alot of beer or what you want. I can have access to a workshop which I havn't seen yet but I know it has some tools and workshop style car lift i believe.

Yeah sounds like the clutch is stuffed. There is a group of us up here that can do them in about 8 hours which includes BBQ and drinking time but I know with 3 of us it would be hard to find a time that we could do it!

How much is a clutch worth for these I would prob be looking at something stronger than an OEM replacement but nothing to hard core was thinking maybe just a exedy MBK-7223HD which is just the exedy sports tuff heavy duty kit. Seen as I don't just drive like a nana. I think It should last to after xmas as I hardly drive it and don't need to drive it.

That's a good clutch - I installed one in mine. About $800 - $900 retail?

Check out speedfactor for a clutch kit, I have purchased a couple of these MBK7223HD sports tuff kits from them, the last was a year ago but it was only $715ish delivered.

yeh me dave and mike did it in a a few hours, with beers and a bbq in the middle
i recommend getting a spare flywheel preped for the job, (new or 2nd hand machined)

Well I can get a HD exedy for 592 but t this stage it will probably have to be in the new year so I'll keep you guys posted and we could maybe have a day get together and use eachothers skills for various tasks etc

I would get a machine shop to get it skimmed and balanced. :)

With a slide hammer I think we could get it down to 6 hours...

and people wonder why I have gone auto...

Just you wait until an Auto dies!

It may be possible to lift a ~55kg manual box into position by one's self, but you won't be able to do the same to a 100kg auto!

I have a mechanic that works at Team capital holden Wellington that does all my work on my car ( e.g clutch, cambelt and little bits ) and would be more than happy to do a clutch change for you as a perk. From past experience i dont just let anyone work on my car and its not very often that i go recommending a mechanic's either.

You could try using the search function instead of posting in a completely unrelated thread....

That was probably the best hijack I've seen,

Yeah If i find a 2nd hand one I'll get it balanced and machined but havn't found a wreckers yet that has one. Do I need just the fly wheel or flex plate as well?

Gly
01-12-2010, 06:34 AM
you'll need the flex plate aswell, it will need to be a complete unit so it can be ground and balanced

Thins really arent playing nice now. After a drive to kemeu and back the car started running rough lost power and engine light came on as I drove onto base. I've run a code check and I'm getting 1 long and 10 short. this doesnt seem to correspond to the error code sheet on here though any thoughts? It seems to run ok at idle now. I;m thinking a missfire?

at a wild guess just from the sound of the video i would go with checking your belts and oil level it kind of sounds like your tappids are going to town

scottie2hotti
02-12-2010, 09:07 AM
The oils at about mid range probably due for a change soon though. but that wouldnt explain the stalling at idle etc?

Re flywheel, i have one sitting here on my doorstep, but probably isnt much use seeing as your motor sounds toast, sorry dude

scottie2hotti
04-12-2010, 11:44 PM
Well randomly enough I dont think its terminal as al is running well now like nothing ever happened. I'm confused but its a bit hard to fix something when it isnt broke. will have to see if it comes back.....

Yeah that is odd,I wonder what could have made such a loud noise. Maybe it was really bad tappet rattle...........

maori_by_nature
05-12-2010, 06:38 AM
top your oil up if you cant hear the noise theres nothing wrong kinda like when your fuel light comes on and you cover it you still have enough gas lol but really i be inclined to go with what gly said.... hes ugly and he shaves like wolverine but he dose no his stuff
