View Full Version : should there be (this much) play in the drive shaft?

While changing the passenger side lower straight arm I always have the strange need to feel if there is any play on any of the joints. And this time, I turned and pushed and pulled on the drive shaft. And there it was... some minor play, it was hard to feel, but sure to hear! So I made a little movie and uploaded it.

Is this normal or shouldn't there be any play?

Mark, I think that's the gearbox rather than play in the driveshaft. Mine does the same thing.

You really shouldn't be putting videos of you playing with your shaft on youtube!

Sorry couldn't resist...

I am certainly no expert on this (in fact this is only an opinion) but it really doesn't look like anything to worry about to me. I am entirely prepared to get shot down for this!

Thanks guys. I'm not exactly worried about the play, but I just wondered. So thanks for the reassurance.
