I borrowed one we had PX'd at work over the bank holiday weekend in August and must say the drive was impressive but it rattled like buggery (was a cabriolet) - wouldn't buy one for sure.....especially when Conor was telling everyone "My dads got a hairdressers car"

Steady with the hairdresser comments ! :lipsrseal

Some of us own a certain classy hardtop convertible which does not rattle (my VR4 is not particularly good in the rattle stakes :rolleyes5 ) - but there again it is a Merc (built in Germany!). I like to think it portrays a different image - owner of many hairdressing salons

Anyway, back to the thread - no the TT looks like a VW jelly mould and is crap. It is just a poseurs tool and I wouldn't be seen dead in such a vehicle !!!!!!!!!

Those I've paid attention to on the roads seem to be driven by tw@ts.
A couple have tried to race me or entice me to race and end up doing scary manourvers. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mark.brindley1/smilies/whatever.gif

What is the meaning of a queer's eye view on cars and the like?

Ironically, yesterday I was following one. This was the top of the range Audi 225 TT (with 3.2 litre engine I believe).

After the roundabout he tried some serious throttle to lose me but the VR4 was up to it!

If it was a 225Bhp it was a 1.8 Turbo - The top of the range 3.2 is 250Bhp :)

Brind:

Geeze Brind, I'll call you Hawkeye from now on. Whatever it is it didn't set off my Snooper ........ however, tomorrow I will go and have a look see what it is as it's close to my home.

Kiwitt:

I don't know what speed we got up to. It's a 50 mph limit and I would guess maybe 70 mph 'ish ..... nothing too dramatic.

Japmetal:

Yes, you're correct, not the 3.2 I don't think ....... to be frank I was going by the twin exhausts it had but if the 1.8 turbo has twin exhausts then that was probably the one because he wasn't exceptionally fast.

The 1.8T does have twin exhausts. The 3.2 was only launched very recently.

Onpaper there is not much between them in the sprint stakes. I would guess that the 1.8T handles better as well.

I know there are easy to get chips for them to take the 1.8T to approx 250 bhp. That, quattro and its weight should be plenty to keep a standard VR4 at bay.

Good to see it struggled!!

No sound on that one Nick ...... sometimes better to keep the size as small as possible but it does sound much better when you can hear the engine!
