Hey guys I'm down in Chch NZ. Took my legnum in for a WOF today only to have it fail on a cracked top engine mount. I'm trying to source one out, any help or direction would be much appreciated. Cheers Chris.

About $220 from the mount shop in Auckland and $130 from kempys.

You can't actually fail a wof on a "cracked" engine mount

That's a bit of a price difference is the one from Kempys secondhand or something? Funny you should say that about failing the Wof i didn't think so either but the guy argued with me so i just let it go, won't be going back there!!! Thanks for the reply too.

$170 new from partmaster. But they just resell mountshop mounts, so could probably get them cheaper there.

Kempys ones are second hand. You should have got him to show you in the VIRM where it says that an engine mount is a fail. My one in my galant was cracked and they mentioned it but I just said "you can't fail it tho" so they passed it. The guy you took it to is just been a ****

All I could find in the VIRM was in section 13-1, item 1. Something along the lines of the engine must be securely mounted. I guess its a case of the VIRM being too open for interpretation. Unless there is other, not publicly available material that clarifies it further?

so that would mean a cracked bush in a engine mount would still still pass as the engine is still "securely mounted".

i have probably failed 2 or 3 cars on engine mounts but only on lower ones because the bush was completly broken and was falling out so the engine was able to rock back and forward like mental - meaning it wasnt securely mounted...

Yeah, I agree with you David, I was just pointing out why the confusion is probably there in the first place.

Thanks for the replys guys. I took it to flags tyres in Woolston, i only take it there because it is handy to work but don't think I'll be going back there as they always seem to find something wrong.
