Hi,

My name is John, I am in the USA (near New York City) and happened across this board last night. I own what is currently the quickest/fastest stock (14B) turbo'ed 6G in the US (12.79@107mph). I have been a Mitsu Tech for about 8 years and I've owned my VR-4 since last October when I rescued her from in front of a shop where she sat with a spun balance shaft bearing for over a year. I know this site is primarily 8G based but I'll try my best to help out wherever I can. If any other 6G owners are looking for info please visit www.galantvr4.org for what is probably the most informative 6G site on the net.

Hello John. Good to see you registering. Shame you guys never got the 8G, but I'm sure that many JDM/UK galant parts are interchangeable with the USDM model. It'll be interesting to find out how many! :-b

Wow! That is one hell of a claim to fame, having the fastest stock VR-4 in the U.S.

Do you know what the power output is? Have you done any minor mods to it?

I have a JDM 6g VR-4 which is in bits at the moment having an engine re-build and I have been looking stateside for some performance parts. Do you have any recommendations for suppliers?

I did try datalogging it but the JDM ECU does not want to play ball :sad3:

Any advice would be much appreciated

Thanks

Yes, I've done quite a few mods but still a stock turbo which is a Mitsu 14B in the US. A quick list of mods:

Turbo XS Manual Boost Controller
3" Turbo Back Exhaust
Evo 8 560cc injectors
255lph Walbro Fuel Pump
ACT 2600 Clutch
Ported Exhaust Mani
Ported O2 Housing
Ported Turbo Exhaust Housing
Balance Shafts Removed
Rebuilt Short Block
Keydiver ECU Chip (dsmchips.com)
Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator
JDM FMIC (I think thats standard on all non US VR4's)

That's about it for the performance mods. I did the portwork myself and the Keydiver chip compensates for the injectors so I don't need a SAFC but I plan to get one after I upgrade the turbo to an Evo3 16G. I've installed a set of Dave Brode 2 1/4" IC pipes since I ran 12.79 and it seems to have picked up about 500rpm before the power falls off so I hope to get a 12.6 out of it before upgrading the turbo. If I can help you at all please PM or email me and I'll help you however I can.

How about a link to a video:

http://www.imagestation.com/album/index.html?id=4287273453

Click on link, select "Download video" then when the next screen comes up do a "right click, save as" on the download now icon and you should be all set. If it doesn't work, I can't help it I am a moron when it comes to computers. As someone stated in a previous post use galantvr4 as name and password.

Pics from Englishtown NJ in April, I managed to win the 13.49 and quicker bracket that day:

Enjoy! Oh, I'll probably be out visiting you Englishmen next summer and I hope to at least meet one of you and get a ride in an 8G while I'm there.

Thanks for the info John and great video. Your car really shoots off the line :-b

When you come over here next summer I would be more than happy to give you a ride in an 8G VR-4 if you are anywhere near Rugby on your travels.

NICE!! I am actually going to Ireland for my wife's family reunion but she also has family in the UK so I'd like to get over there too, especially since they own a pub.
