Console between driver and passenger

In my car there is a tray here right at the side of the hand brake. This tray is the one where an access slot exists to the hand brake lever. Reason I am mentioning this is that on my car there are 3 screw holes made by the person who had the car before me. I am wondering whether I have anything missing from here ie cup holders or summink like that? I know that I have the access cover missing, keep loosing my money!!!

I think you are missing a spring loaded widget that turns the tray into a double cup holder. When released, it springs up 90 degrees to hold a cup in the front and or back half of the tray.

I have absolutely no idea why someone would want to remove it, though!

/edit. Found a dodgy photo of it in the released position. It pushes down and clips in place. Is that what you are talking about?
