Hi,
Check out these threads.

do it with tools in a garage:
http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?23199-I-bled-my-own-AYC-rear-diff.&highlight=bled+ayc

make a switch to do it:
http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?30509-How-To-Service-Your-AYC-Differential-SAFELY-without-an-MUT-II-Diagnostic-Computer&highlight=bled+ayc

The Red AYC letters on the dash may also mean that the pump pressure is low, due to general wear and use. could mean you need a new pump, or you can get an adjustable pressure switch from ebay, or if you are stuck I have a spare one here. (easy to replace)

threads on ayc pressure switch:
http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?49285-dreaded-AYC-red-light&highlight=adjustable+ayc+pressure+switch
(post 6 has a good explanation of what is happening)

Why bleed? Has the system been opened??

thanks louis,
i tried bleeding using your instruct with 4 wheels off ground but i think my pump is either total or has low pressure.i say this because when i got the car from japan the reservoir was empty and the lines from the def to the pump were off,it was a car i was putting back up.i made a mistake i hooked up the lines wrong, stupid me only checked another vr4 with ayc after to realsie they were hooked up wrong, would this cause the pump to get damaged??anyway when i try bleeding only a trickle of fluid comes out from the nipples ,no pressure at all.what else could i try or would i need a new pump?

When you are bleeding the system, open the left nipple and turn the steering wheel to the left. Turning the steering wheel is an important part as it activates the solenoids to open valves to allow fluid to go to both sides. if no fluid comes out raise the revs slightly, (it should bleed ok at idle, tick over speed).
If you have no joy that way, what you can try is, open both bleed nipples, fill the resevoir and leave it!, go have a coffee and watch it for a while, and you should start to see the fluid coming out of the nipples, keep an eye on the resevoir so it does not go too low. Then try the bleeding process again.
You should be able to test the pump by puting a live and earth to the connections on it. It is not good for a pump to run with no fluid in it, (but a quick test will let you know it is actually operating. If it has been connected wrongly and it has been pumping ayc fluid FROM the diff To the resavoir, then that would be bad, but I am not sure if that is possible to do because of the solenoid operated valves?.

hi louis,
the pump is working but i think the pressure is low.when i leave nipples open the fluid just seeps out slowly.could you explain how to use the adjustable pressure switch on the pump?could you send me a link to the best possible switch from ebay you think would be best to use.

You can buy them on ebay from Rogerrally (his name on here and on the Mitsubishi Lancer Register MLR) Turnaround360 is his company name and his ebay name. Make sure it is an Adjustable pressure switch that you get, REMEMBER!, all this does is allow you to lower the pressure the switch activates at, the real problem is a weak pump, by adjusting the switch so the switch requires less pressure to operate, will not make the pump stronger, and you will still need to do something about the pump eventually. I think there are members on here who have fitted the adjustable pressure switch and have been ok for 2 years!.
The switch I think is £99, and there are a few ayc pumps on ebay at the moment for about £300, so you might be better getting a pump while there are some cheap ones about!.
Have a read on here about how to read the fault codes by grounding pin 1 on the OBD11 connector under the dash, it will flash the ayc light on the dash and you count the number of times to give you the fault code number, then you can post on here and someone will tell you what that exact fault code means, there is a full list of fault codes on here also. Let us know how you get on, would be good to get it fixed :)

I would say the main code here is:
"82 electromotive pump breakdown 27− 28"
The other wheel sensor codes will be there as you have had the wheels off the ground spinning, (this will register as a fault if one wheel has rotated intermittently or very differently to the others, so if you have had all 4 off the ground then you would get the other codes).
So, you def have a suspect pump or pressure switch (as the switch activates the pump), there doesn't seem to be a fault code for the pressure switch?.
So you need an adjustable pressure switch or a new pump, which ever is the more cost effective solution. (adjustable switch is £99, and you can get a second hand pump at the mo for £300, so which ever you can afford). You are taking a gamble when fitting the adjustable pressure switch, as you are lowering the activation pressure to match the weak pump.
But at least you know exactly what is required.

Do you know when all the control fluid was changed, if it's badly degraded it will cause pump issues,

i think because i had the 2 lines from the def connected wrong on the pump it might have caused some problems to it.the fluid is new roberto.if the abs light is on could it cause the problem with the ayc?

hi louis,
could you direct me to a thread where gives directions to installing adjustable pressure switch.

I am sure there is a thread with fitting directions on here somewhere, but it is very simple to do and to adjust.

MPBVr4 is a member on here who sells adjustable pressure switches, (or on ebay)

Fitting instructions here (you may need to register for free)

http://lancerregister.com/showthread.php?threadid=88371/

And written instructions here

http://images.fotopic.net/?id=26069749&noresize=1

If you can't get one from anyone on this forum, you can get one from RogerRally (on here) or turnaround360 Rogers website where he sells them, or here on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mitsubishi-Lancer-Evo-4-5-6-GSR-AYC-pressure-switch-/250779531975?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a639ffac7#ht_1947wt_1132

.
It may be better buying a new pump if you can get a second hand cheap one, as the pressure switch you have just now is not at fault!, it is the pump that is weak!, and the adjustable switch compensates for the weak pump. So you either spend money on the adjustable switch, OR you spend money on a pump and keep your own switch.

i puled codes 11,12,13,14, and 15 and was wondering if the abs is malfunctioning if it might cause the ayc to not work properly?
