Petrol took another sharp price leap overnight with fears it could reach $2.50 a litre within weeks for 91 octane, meaning the cost of 98 being around $2.75 a litre

Should be alot of VR4's popping up on TM very soon /Devil5

Yeah, think I'm gonna have to stop using my VR4 as my daily at this rate ... trouble is my only other car's another VR4 ... might have to buy a mirage hatch or something.

I'm more worried about the knock-on effect it will have on the prices of other things (eg: food).

the butterfly effect. gotta love it.

tbh wont be only vr4's that will drop in prices.. will be any petrol guzzler. IE: batman rx7's, v8's etc.

will be a buyers market for sure tbh

I fear that this time the prices will be more permanent too!!!

I really don't have space for two cars .... mmmm thoughts thoughts. My mum has got a Honda Civic 2-door Hatch (my sisters just sitting under covers at the moment). May give it some thought.

Mine is staying in my garage. :) Doesnt do many k's these days, due to having my work car.... Will even continue down the mods track.. lol

On a side note, the prius cost $94 to fill - pretty much the most expensive fill its had in nearly 2 years...

I've ended up buying a runabout and leaving the Leggie in the garage most days - if my girlfriend doesn't take the runabout when she goes out!

They need to do something about these petrol prices - it's getting stupid.

You would be hard pressed to get 8.5k for a car with a clutch on the way out, and needs wof and reg Mike...

It has issues? just needs a new clutch. Rego and wof have run out (both 6th march) because i had my lancer to wof and reg aswell + uni + working 16 hours a week. As far as i know its the fastest in wellington.

Yea i thought about that, im guessing one has to go. My parents want the VR4 out of the shed and there is no way i can afford running to town every day in it. I only drive it maybe once a week as it is. Maybe i put it in storage

I don't know man - aren't you in your final year at Uni? Just think of the cool car that's waiting once the studies finish. You can't train (i.e. "choo choo") to uni or something? Obviously if you want to sell it that's your prerogative but seems a shame if you did.

Final few months, just the one paper to do. Guess i could train for abit. Would be sad to see it go. Only had it since end of november

well yeah its an issue, espcially if you cant DIY,

clutch kit, $800ish, 6-8hours labour at a garage, $65p/h + $100fluids/misc = $1355
years reg and a WOF, $300,

so up to $1655.00 just to get it drivable,
what Q is offering is good money for a car that isnt in demand and needs work,
obviously he doesnt need to pay for labour, but still has to invest his time into it.

IMO, if your set on selling it, take what Q's offering, you'll be hard pushed to get anything better, even with the car repaired and road legal.

Its still fully drivable, getting wof and reg next week. clutch will be done by my uncle hopefully. Pretty sure ill get more than 6k for it. Theres a few on trademe at 10k and are no where as nice as mine.

Gly
11-03-2011, 03:18 AM
a car with a slipping clutch is not what i call fully drivable,
it may be drivable but not to its full potential,

anyway thats not the point. anyone, who thinks they can get 10k for a leg/gal vr4 is dreaming,
(even my car i would think id be lucky to get 7-8k for it in todays market)

2 are dealerships, they can can offer easy finance,
and there dreaming,

the first ones vinels car, and he knows hes being hopeful,
also galants seam to fetch a few more $$ over the same in a legnum.

and the 4th ones prob the closest to yours but there dreaming,

a car is only worth what some ones willing to pay,
never the asking price.

I've gone down the track also of getting given a cheap runabout, and leaving the leggie for towing, driving every now and again.

Just because they're advertised at $10k doesn't mean they'll get it...

Clutches, like anything have a limited lifespan so it is quite likely that it has simply reached the end of its service life.

I replaced my clutch at about 120,000 but it started slipping just under 100,000.

Keep in mind that your legnum was Williams tow car for his boat! So obviously that is going to take quite abit of life out of the clutch

Downsize as in car?? not going to happen in the near future. I sat down and thought to my self. Hmmm if i buy my self a 1800 turbo honda for say 8 grand.. thats 8 grand i could have done to my car, water to air intercooler. maybe a turbo upgrade and yeah thats about it.
