It had to come one day, but I did not think it would be so soon !! :rolleyes5
Chatting to Dave last night, I mentioned the wind direction, & said that It could be a deciding factor as to wether it could be done !!
wind; N/E, a following wind at the pod instead of the usual direction, [ S/W ]
the temperature also was near perfect for a good run. one of us just had to bring all the above, & the preperation of the car, & the launch, together, for a record breaking run !! :-b

& I did !! :-D :-D

a near perfect 2500 rpm launch, 75 bhp of nitrous set up just right, &, in my opinion, the best side of the track !! the right. [ the nearside was too slippy, ask Kieran !! ]

12.969 secs

A VR4 has broken through the 13 second barrier...................... & It was me !!! :D :-b :-b

Grrrr!!!! :furious3: The bloody left lane was like an Ice rink!! Some berk left half their engine oil on the start strip and so the lane was closed! Not untill I'd bloody done two runs, mostly consisting of wheelspin!!! :$ On my first run, I span the wheels in 1st, so I changed up.... And they still kept on spinning! :wiggle: :$ .... So into third I went..... And STILL Hordak kept burning rubber and not much else! :rolleyes5 :rolleyes5 :$

Third time lucky for me... Scrubbed my tyres in the wheel spin area to clean 'em up a bit, trickled off the line with almost no revs and then booted it (STILL with wheels chirruping a bit in 1st!), and recorded a time as follows..

Reaction:..... +.963
60ft:............ 2.834
330ft........... 7.161
1.8 ET...........10.678
1/8 MPH........69.75
1000' ET.......13.614
1/4 ET...........16.239:-b
1/4 MPH.........88.63

That works out (using a 0-60 calculator that uses your 1/8 times) as a 0-60 in 7.9 seconds.

I'm Satisfied with that, especially since Mitsubishi quote a 0-60 of 8.2secs and the 'quarter mile rivals' webpage (look at it via the internet time machine as the Google link doesn't work anymore) recons the 2.5 V6 does a quarter mile in 16.6!!!

But next year....Mwahahahah!!! Andy and I want to crack the 16 second barrier!!! :devil5:

I'm sure there will be a couple of generous VR4 owners willing to lend you their motors... :lipsrseal :lipsrseal
/ runs for cover, screaming 'I was JOKING!!!'.....

Seriously though, A cracking day, faces to names, lots of nice cars to browse and pole dancers....  ;)
Many thanks to all that put effort into the organising for CVR4...

lets just put this into perspective !!
we VR4 owners are driving over 1 1/2 tonnes of automatic estate cars, which in my case spends most of it's life doing the school run, Tesco, etc!! :$
And yet can outperform almost every other car on the road !! :rolleyes5

After I did my 12.9 sec run, I sat in the grandstand for around 45 mins, watching all the other "wannabee's" !! :lipsrseal
Evo V111's FQ330.... Scooby STI's....Skylines.... Pulsars.... Supra's.... etc !! & nothing..............................NOTHING came close to beating that !!!!
:-b :-b
Only the sponsored cars were posting better times, & they have spent fortunes on them !!
now how cool is that ?? :-b :-b :-b

It was great that this awesome figure was achieved after all the effort and cash you guys have ploughed into your cars.

More importantly, it was good that everyone came away with fully intact cars once again.....unlike one or two others, the poor ba*tard who's bonnet flew up near the finish line springs to mind :lipsrseal

First run with the new motor saw a modest 14.5, which I was fairly pleased with considering I am using the same settings on my boost controller as I had in the old car.....due to the fact my new Apexi RSM appears to be giving me wrong readings :dozey:

Anyhow.....awesome result Derek! But.......I am sure Mr BDA will be back with a vengance in 2005......so watch your back :-D

I'm sure he will Pete, & he's managed to extract huge performance from his car, for far less money than me !! :$ :rolleyes5
I think........... I may be wrong [ not having apexi ] I was running over 450 bhp today !! now................... who was It said you cant go over 360 bhp ? :$ :$ :lipsrseal

Well done Derek. But @ 450 hp, it certainly gives you the edge over most run of the mill machinery. That includes EVO VIIIs

However, as you say it is suitable for School runs and shopping at the same time. How many other super cars can say that.

Oh and by the way, the Tiptronic (auto) is fast as fast a manual. True ?

Its OK K, I found it!

A rather spiffing 4.48 to 60mph! I am chuffed given the inability of the box to change gear after a reset!! :p :D

Dave ... Where was your problem changing gear .. was it just 1 gear or all .. It's just that mine was riding like a astbard from 2nd to 3rd .. had to change it up at 5000rpm so it didn't red line .. ?

Well done Derek, you made it at last.... ;) commiserations Dave, I know you have worked long and hard to attain that goal.... :Cry1: but there is all winter now to get it sorted and make it stronger than ever, at least as I think Pete said everyone got to go home with all their bits intact, you know what I mean Dave.... ;)

To tell you the truth it had been doing it for a couple of days previos to the pod .. Just between 2nd and 3rd .. But normally when it gets warmed up it ain't a problem .. When i went to get my licence on morning , by half way home it was changing purrrrfectly.. ???

Nice one Del... :-b

Exellent time there! :D I could sense you were pleased when you found out LOL

I did catch one or two of your runs on film I think.. will try to post them...
but yes the amount of *souped up* highly modded cars cars could not
get near the time you posted...

It does look strange to see something so big moving that kwickly!!

It was all worth it to see Dave stick to his word too... Set a few cars honking there horns LOL

/edit I will let you know about the air filter via CustomFX :-) Just reading your thread which contains peoples opinions regarding these cone or mushroom filters over the factory standard airbox. Hmm interesting... definitely a split camp here :)

Whilst I was in the queue for my final run, I was chatting to a guy with a 'proper' Evo !! the one sponsored by some caravan holiday park ?? [ cant remember who ? ]
he was running sub 11secs !! :rolleyes5 , & when I told him I'd done a 12.9 in mine, his jaw dropped !! :D
" astonishing mate, well done !! " :-b :-b :-b
