Finaly found a mint one after near 3 Months of searching and nearly going for another make:quasi:
Lucky this one was only 30 miles away , we had traveled to view 2 cars all of which were 2 -3 hours away and all very bad condition when we got there with lots of rust and issues..

Anyway this is a one owner car with full mitsi service history 57k on the clock. Drives very well and is nice and smooth as it should be. Condition is VERY good all arches are great and not even any stone chips on the front. All 4 alloys are in great condition with no curbing as per picture.Inside is great no rips in leather and no wear on the momo wheel. Engine is sweet with no tapping no smoke etc. Slam panel is mint not like most with rust around bolts etc.. Defo helped to view a few as when you see "The One" you can tell straight away.

This will be are family car with are little one on the way in July which means I have to sell my Toy (the Evo) So hence why I wanted the best Galant Estate we could find lol.
Once we get it home first job will be to remove the tow bar.We then need to pick up some footwell mats and thats about it. :p

Looks nice! :sunny:

You'll be able to sell that towbar once you're done with it too. Why not leave it on though?

It nice to see Galants kept in top condition going to be own by CVR4 members, perhaps we all together can keep such a great cars life on the road for a bit longer.
Great find, well worth waiting.

Not worth the cost, IMHO - unless one is doing mega miles and keep the car for a while.

I reckon mine would do ~ 35 m.p.g. on a long run with no aircon nor roof box. Best so far is ` 32 m.p.g., IIRC.

Cheers all

Well worth the wait.
Thing I also like with these cars Galants/vr4s/legnums etc Is they are very rare you don`t see them on the road all the time. :)

Well... the misses is driving around 25-30K km (= around 16-18K miles) per year. Which is quite expensive on petrol using the Legnum VR4... The V6 N/A is lighter, has better MPG and LPG conversion is less critical compared to doing it on the VR4. And I'll probably be driving galant/legnums for quite another few years...

Yep all are in that condition I was very shocked. I wont be changing them due to the condition. (Just hope they stay in that nick with the Mrs driving) Just shows it was very well looked after by last owner though.

Those wheels are very soft - tell her not to bounce up kerbs and avoid potholes!

It does look good. Hope you enjoy it for a good while!

Ah she should be ok she knows I will go Ape if the car gets bent lol She knows how rare it is too after spending the time helping to find one in this condition.

Sorry - I didn't mean to sound like I was doubting her driving ability. It's just that those alloys are well known for their lack of ability to stay round.

Thats a lovely looking car... Looks in great condition. Nice find!

The interior of the elegance is so very nice too, it's a shame not many VR's came with the same interior as std.

The towbar ldoes not look out of place to me, plus they do well in saving your bumper when taking the brunt of someone rolling into the back of you ( at low speeds )

Indeed the vr4s need leather they do look atad old in side.
Tow bar will be off as soon as we get it home. I just hate them on a car that will never tow.

nice car!!

It was on Pistonheads and Ebay fella. As I was checking the site alot during the day as im off work with a broken ankle I was on the phone within 10mins of the car being live. 9am next day we had bought it. It was only 30miles down the road too which was great so was worth a drive to check it out. Viewing the others helped too as , as soon as we saw it and looked under the bonnet we could tell this one HAD been well looked after. And after the test drive this backed it up with a very nice smooth drive. It was an old guy that had it before us and he was only doing 5k a year according to the mots. All service work had been done by Mitsubishi too.

Did you have any luck with that one up in North Scotland?

I agree about the towbar, when looking for a VR4 i could never understand why some had a towbar fitted, after all it is realy a performance car first and foremost, but then I do have a dog crate in the back of mine

e5dcb
22-03-2011, 03:36 AM
Dog crate lol

Managed to buy some floor mats so thats sorted and picked up some polishing bits and leather cleaner to give it a going over at the weekend. Should look smart will take some better pictures once done. Rather than the forecourt ones .

And I think towbar can be accident prevention/damage limitation measure

If you reverse into somebody the towbar takes the strain and if somebody drives into you, they get it from the towbar...

nope, in the end my lancer sold, but I took a Golf GT TDi as part of the deal. Its not really me and a bit small for family duties, so its on ebay and I'm looking again, not sure what for, but looking!

Well picked the car up today. Very nice drive back home defo the smoothest car ive been in for a long time suspension wise also can`t get over how pokey they are :D. Very happy with it altho I could not drive it today Grrrr. (broken Ankle at least 7 more weeks before I can take it out :( ) Got it back home and gave the dash a good coating of Poorboys Natural look which has brought it back to a factory finish. Have ordered some swissvax leather cleaner but nothing turned up today in post so will be a job for weekend as well as a good wash and polish.
First mod though was a K&N panel filter in the standard box. I have used these on all my cars without any issues and the fact the old was was black it was well worth doing.

02-04-2011, 06:32 PM
very happy today. We went to Jamsport for a rolling road day to watch the old mans car run and they had a space free so the galant went on. Result was 169hp. With 175ibft. Only 1 mod done the k&n in the standard airbox :)

Small update.

After breaking my ankle when we first bought this its only now that ive been able to drive the car /Hyper.
First thought was its great to be back in a N/A car ! Last few cars being turbo`d and never really enjoyed the slight delay in power. The power of this V6 is very suprising too really love the torque of the engine and the sound:smart:.
Petrols really good too (When the Mrs drives it) But most of all like the really smooth ride - use to feel every bump in the road on my last 3 cars so its nice to own something so comfy. :).
As there abit rare only spotted 1 other a sport v6 you do get a few comments. Mainly at petrol stations asking what is it /hammer.
Boot space has been another talking point with a few as its soo big. The new BMW`s etc have nowhere near the same size.

On the to do list (Even though its the family daily) Better brakes thats the only down side id like to sort out soon. Poss some new discs and xp8 pads lol should stop it!

26-05-2011, 02:42 PM
Yeah its worth doing I dont think this one has ever had the leather cleaned etc as it was all shinny its ment to be a matt finish. (Swissvax sorted that out) I dont know what the old owner used to clean the windows with but some have some nasty scratchs , are the windows on these soft? Not alot can be done on them other than replace.
Engine came up really well after a APC (G101) was applied then rinsed off. Some aerospace 303 was used to finish the black trim etc.

I've got a couple of scratches on my rear door glass too. :(

Oil change all done last week , so now runs nice and sweet for another 10k

I tackled the spark plugs today all went ok just took awhile taking parts off. Was worth doing as the plugs were not too good and were over due a change. . Only bad point was as it was sooo hot today and leaning into the bay working away my top had raised abit from my jeans and I now have a inch burn line mark above my ass.

Strut brace added today after it passed its mot. :)

I bought this off a member on here but as std on the vr4`s they seem to have red end plates and a alloy finish for the bar. Which looks crap in my opinion.
I sanded down the end plates and sprayed and lacquered them.
The main bar was badly scratched so rather than paint it my friend at FCM in Bristol offered to Flock it. ( prob not to everyones taste but i like to be different)

There a good mod, got one on mine. im not keen on the red either to be honest though.

Rambaud

Yes, useful mod.

I don't mind red & silver - but the black looks good.

BillHardy
06-08-2011, 08:30 PM
Daz i think the colour change realy suits the engine bay

e5dcb
07-08-2011, 12:52 AM
Yes Bill I do like things to match and the red was a no goer!

Massive difference to the handeling not that I throw it about but just feels better. I wont bother for the rear as you notice no difference with them the only loads on the rear top mounts are vertical, so a strut brace does nothing anyway ;-)
