Made a start on this today. Just hanging on by 2 bolts in the pic, the fixings are considerably different. Lot more work to do with a few extra mods to be made to it. Fairly contraversial I would think, but gotta say I'm liking what I see so far:)

What bumper is it Andy? Not to sure about the bit that go's up into the grill area.

The Vee

Tis an 02/03 USDM.

Galant USDM one.
Andy, now you can try fiddle with US headlights... /Devil5

The Vee

Probably going to keep the UK lights now. Did consider USDM ones, but not too difficult to get UK to fit. In the pic they are more or less in bolt up position and minimal trimming of bumper required. Think it's more of a pain when the US guys try to fit JDM bumpers with USDM lights and end up with the gaps.

Now that's a bit different !!!

I assume you would be putting the three diamonds in the middle?

I do have the USDM grills but also a couple of other options in my mind. It is just the start and there are loads of bits I've collected for it such as a front lip, evo 7 bonnet vents etc. Just need to dump the number plate!

Yes and Yes! As you know, from the time I converted the engine I've always tried to keep away from just being a VR4 look-a-like. Much as I could live with a VR4 (and it would have been a lot easier and indeed less costly) the old girl must remain a bit of a wierdo - yup likes it's owner

What I want to know is why arn't there any plants growing out of this ?

Certainly looks different mate, but have to be honest and say I am not sure at this stage. Once painted, diamond's fitted and finished then will be easier to pass judgement

Sounds interesting/yes Look forward to the end result:)

Must admit I did have to dig it out and hose it down. I also found the rear bumper I've been working on - yep gonna do that one too, and no folks that one is not a USDM /pan

He He :D Only Jesting /yes

You know i'm not in fan of the Chris Eubanks nose on the USDM Bumper :p
But i've seen it in the flesh and the lower lip you have /yes And along with the other parts that you have planned for the bumper. I'm sure you will make a thing of beauty in the end /yes

The Vee

I'll do my best, but like all these things, you get a picture in your head and think..................

that grill look very similar to the carisma nose. and i am not too sure about that.

but it is always personal preferance and when it is finished i am sure you will have stampted you mark all over it, and i look forward to seeing it.

keep us all posted with the transformation

The Vee

Will do Dave, but knowing me it'll be a slow process. Mind you, I've only had this bumper for just less than a year, so who knows /pan

Three weeks later ..........................

LOL Now come on Mark, this is me here - what do you expect!!
OK there is a little progress - put on a few fixings and some wheel arch liner supports, so the car can now drive round with it on, indeed it was at Japfest. I have also added the lip, but not finished yet of course, so nothing new there. TBH the lip only needs the end caps fabricating which I'm working on or should that be thinking about /pan
I will post a picture of it later, but it really is just an idea of how it's going to look. I'm quite pleased TBH, but it may well be an "aquired" taste!

The Vee
22-05-2011, 08:23 PM
Here are some more pics then.
Second one as at Japfest with no lip
The rest are with lip sort of fitted but lots to do like the end caps grills fogs etc.
Next installment???? hmmmm!!

looks better with the lip on it, Are you doing anything with the corners? something like the super canards would look the tits and finish the corners off.

The Vee

Cheers guys.
Yep (PSB) they're what I refered to as end caps!! Just my age - you understand. Got a couple of ideas for them, hence the facelift bumper on the front grass. Yes Pete, front garden rather than back. This way I get nagged more to get it finished and the garden tidied /pan.

Not yet I'm afraid. It will be, but recently the G has been sat in the garage while I've been doing other things. The LSD is fitted but not yet tested and as the ring this year will not be attended, things have been left to drift a little. Currently it has no brakes, steering wheel, gauges and a host of other bits and pieces!

How could I have missed this thread?! Good work Andy! What's that lip from/for? Or is it especially for the USDM bumper? I ike the strangeness that quite a few VR2's are (or should be!).

The Vee
26-09-2011, 11:01 AM
Mark, the lip is from a 99 acura. Needs a little modding to fit and as you can see is a little short. Will be fabbing up some end pieces to fit.

Cheers guys, certainly tidies it up somewhat. Currently working on the centre grills. Pics will follow. Then after meshes chosen (yes big changes to centre grills) it will be time to think about paint.

Any update on this Andy? Would love to see some pics if it's done & painted.

The Vee

Not a great deal I'm afraid! However there are some pics in my garage of it at Nurburg / Spa but still much to do. It's hibernating at the moment (or is that really me?)

Here's a couple of them

You may also notice I did the five stud conversion which meant after many years my beloved wolfies are redundent. Still, the replacements are none too shabby...

Looks nice! Just a bit of mesh mising. And is the accord lip off again? Thought it looked good!

The Vee

Thanks Mark. Yeah mesh is being fitted, just need to adjust grilles for JDM heads. Lip is going back on but wasn't finished in time for the trip.

Thank you Dek. Obviously a man with taste! Always was going to be a bit marmite as in love it or hate it, but had the picture in my mind for a long time and turning out the way I wanted. Just wish I could be a bit quicker finishing it, but sometimes that's half the fun. If it were completely finished perhaps the interest may slip a little.
