Today after taking the VR4 for a nice long drive, once i stopped i noticed a strange rattle which sounds like it coming from the back of the engine. Could this be the wastegate rattling or something to do with the actuator? :|

The car is also due for an oil change but wouldn't be that would it?

Have uploaded a video:

Thanks

Does it increase with engine speed?

Also, Dane Rumble :/

Nope, sounds like it goes away when i rev the engine, cant notice it when driving, just idle

Knackered engine mount rattling perhaps?

Too stiff/hard spring in a dump valve.
That's typical if you have dv with adjustable spring tension, i.e. Forge ones. In their manual says: "rattle whilst idle - spring is set too hard'

Could just be a heatshield lose. If its wastegates, then you will here it on overrun. I had it with mine and I adjusted them and it went away for 6 months. It has returned now, but still not as bad as it was originally.

Have just adjusted the spring tension actually, might try loosen it

I have a feeling its something to do with the power steering pump/belt. The power steering pulley seems to have a slight wobble on it and the belt seems to squeak abit. When i put wd-40 on it the noise goes away temporarily.

Mine makes a sound after I boost. It's like a rattle from the rear engine. I know its not the power steering belt cus I just replaced it, I thought it had to do with the turbo. It is hardly noticable tho.

I checked your video out, maybe that is lifter tick?

Honestly, that doesn't sound good. sounds a bit inside the engine knocky knocky. get a mechanic to give you their opinion.

I wouldn't have thought it would be bottom end as it goes away above idle. It could be the power steering belt tensioner bearing?

I think its something to do with the power steering belt/pump or tensioner bearing. Sometimes my power steering can be really sensitive and then other times its slightly harder. When i spray the power steering belt with WD-40 the noise goes away. Another thing is when i pull up after a long drive and let the car idle, its about 30 seconds after i have stopped that the noise starts

Pull the belts off and then see if the noise comes out. Water pump driven by cambelt so should be fine to take it for a drive if need be.

EDIT: I mean just the auxiliary drive belts.

could be dodgy tensioner
