Hi, fitted my boost gauge today and after a warming up test runs could not get better than 6psi boost. Was hoping to have installed my boost controller this weekend too but the weather has been absolutely crap here in sunny dorset, but if only 6 pounds of boost means leaving boxters and m3/5's for dust what ho for 14lbs? Cant wait  But I thought standard boost was about 8 psi?

Nick

PS: anyone know which wire for ignition fed 12v +ve for lights? Tried 3 before rain stopped play.

I used to get 8 psi before installing the apexi, now with the apexi installed but turned off I only get 6 psi.... :rolleyes5
Thats why the apexi is never turned off.... :-D

6psi is standard with both pre adn post 1997 ECU`s.

Think these figures are wrong - 6psi is only 0.4bar whereas I thought standard was around 0.6bar (8.5-9psi) ? For sure when I turn my Blitz off I register above 0.6 bar usually

Cheers Zedy, I'll try that one tomorrow if its not raining! :sad3: Trouble is you can't lay on yr back in the footwell with the door shut and my multimeter was getting wet :rolleyes5

mine is '98 ecu and definitely 6psi......... at the mo. :rolleyes5

Bearing in mind that even the smallest changes to a car can affect the boost amount its putting out.. Just switching to silicon hosing LOST me 6psi :rolleyes5 ... Go figure. Just the addition of a different muffler, or air filter, can raise boost 2 or 3psi.

Phew! :sad3:

Moral = always to use rubber hose?

Sorry I meant 0.6 bar not psi.

what gauge your using? cheap ones arent 100% accurate, also if the hose is long

Using an autometer gauge, fairly good quality, funny thing is last night in the cold weather down here ( almost freezing, whereas sunday was very mild) coming home was getting 7-8psi. Something to do with cold air = more dense = more boost?

That is EXACTLY how it works. Hence why you have an interCOOLER on your car! Cold air is the best free power you can possibly get, short of unplugging your wastegate lines :-b

And the silicon hosing - won't expand and shrink like the rubber does. Lost boost initially, bu thats what I have a boost controller for!

At the end of the day - it's just a number. 15psi on a freezing cold night is a lot different to 15psi on a 30 degree day.
