No, You should only add pearls to your paint.
you sure about that? what i have read up on you can add pearls to clear coats..
for example. silver/gold base coat with a red pearl/tint to the clerar coat to give it a candy apple red. but the red dont show till about 5 coats of clear coat. or am i getting my wires crossed?
but damn that purple on black is the meanest.

Problem with pearls in the clear top coat, they can not be sanded back and repaired if needed.
I have seen pro painters add candy pearls in the clear coat.
Add the pearl paint into the middle of the mix. Base-coat, ghost pearl paint, clear-coat =)
Art work like this
base coat, cleared, sanded, art work added, then recleared.
To many clears can make it look like crap.
Best job I have done was a red pearl on midnightblue XA Falcon.

it was then painted with a red and a blue flip added separately on different coats into the laquer, it came out like this! (btw i didnt ask for it to be done like this i ask for the car to have a purple flip so it went from gold to purple, i guess the bodyshop thought they were being clever!)
