Well it finally arrived this week from Germany and it was fitted tonight by AP Motors - fine piece of kit and a perfect replacement for the standard set up.

And......it's lower than the HKS springs on my old one !

Initial impressions seem very good, makes the car look more mean and seemed to handle really well on the short run I took it on, Will know better in a day or two - will keep you all posted.

That looks very looooooooooooow!

So, what's the ride like? Compliant? Boneshaker?

How's it compare to the HKS springs in your old car, and the standard setup in this one?

Surprisingly it's not a boneshaker - I am very happy with it and think its a better ride than the HKS springs - turned out to be a good choice in the end and may be the fact the whole kit is from the same people in a specific kit. Well worth £500 notes !

Peter,

Are you still happy with the B12 set up?

Any niggles/complaints? Is it VERY hard?

Thanks,

Richard

the Ventura spring's (-40mm) i have on my GLS are the same spring's that Bilstein supply with there kit's (well mine's will be slightly different, they only have to hold up a GLS)
and ive found them to be exellent ;) together with the Boge shock's they work really well

Pete is your suspension adjustable?

So what do you get for £500? The rear Bilsteins alone for my Legacy RS-B were £940 + fitting! :(

Your car looks the biz, btw :) I just don't know whether it would clear all the bl00dy speed bumps I have to negotiate daily ...

I am very happy with it, adore the look and the ride is excellent - not too hard at all Richard and I am looking forward to fully testing it's handling at Combe next month.

No Ian, it's not - have to spend a bit more than £500 IIRC - around £1k maybe ?

For the money you get all four shocks and springs.

I was quoted £265 for Tein springs (delivered to the door), and I had a weepy rear shock anyhow and they are £85 each + fitting - so I was looking at £265 + £170 plus fitting at the least. For £500 I got a kit specifically designed for the car and springs/shocks designed to perfectly compliment each other.

All in all - if you need (or will soon need) a shock or two replaced then get the Bilsteins ;)

There's a couple more pics in my member's car section if you wanna look :-b

Unfortunately, the importers are Euro Car Parts - I say this because the actual buying experience from them was a disaster. I took twice as long to get the kit as first expected and they did not courier it to me when they said they had and caused some issues with AP in Plymouth who had me booked in etc. But hey, do not let this put you off the kit itself - it's spot on ! Just tread carefully with Euro Car Parts ;)

Is there a way of buying this on-line? I'm currently working in China but would like to have this on my doorstep on my return. Else, a phone number would be good.

Thanks - Nev

Thanks for that - I presume that I need to specify a B12 for 2002 VR4 (excuse the ignorance - it is natural)

are the springs proper bilstein ones or budget venturas?
(as per the streetline kits ECP do for golfs etc at around £250+)

The kit is a proper Bilstein kit, made by Bilstein and containing only Bilstein bits and in a big Bilstein box with Bilstein written on it - get the drift

Richard, did you not say these are no longer available now ?

Okay next weekend I will be featured in my own strip entitled "How to change your suspension-the female perspective" :-D

Keep your eyes open for full on action shots :rolleyes5

PS The last time I helped Marcus change my suspension on my old escort cabriolet we had the entire front suspension dropped on the floor like so
/_\ and whilst I was bending over one spring to remove it I bent down and the other one went up my bum :rolleyes5 It really hurt but we laughed so much I nearly weed my pants so these photos should be good

I need new shocks on my 97 Legnum but looking at the Bilstein catalogue on line it states the B12 kit (SE5-8841) is for the saloon.

They do front and back kits for the estate but do not show a lowering amount so I assume they are standard ride height.

Does the B12 kit fir the estate or do I need the proper estate parts ?
