My girlfriends pride and joy has given up and decided to have a big coolant wee on the side of the motorway! Then...... the same GF decided not to tell me, keep it topped with volvic and carry on regardless for a day or two.
Needless to say its proper fooked now and needs a new engine.
Before you all start with your "VR4 conversion Chants" - Its a no-go shes having none of it, shes unemployed at the mo and after running my old leggy while she was between cars, she knows how they drink!:beerbang::beerbang:
Sooooooo.......
I need to source a new engine- Is the 6A12 the standard lump for a 1999 FTO GX Aero?
Ta!

I feel I should point out that, yes, although the 6A13TT does drink like a chav drinks cheap lager, this is in part due to the fact the VR-4 is AWD and not exactly a small car ;)
FTO's are smaller, lighter and FWD. I reckon, if she behaved herself, she'd maybe get 35 MPG out of it.

the best thing would be to sell it to me so i can put in my vr4 engine in it thats waiting to go in an fto. then your gf can buy something else with out all the problems and expense of a new fto engine.
have been on the hunt for a suitable donor for a while.
you know it makes sense

Very nice. I am thinking about getting one myself - but g/f is wanting a convertible.
I assume a VR4 engine is heavier? If so, would this not make the car a bit nose heavy?
