I talked to a friend who worked at a clutch repair/refurbish/build place for a few years, and he reckons its not advised to get the stock vr4 flywheel machined unless its done by taking the flex plate off and using an inverted teeth lathe or some such, due to the flex plate well.. flexing.

Has anybody that has got their stock flywheel machined got any knowledge of this? I trust this guy, and what he says does make some sense. I'm just curious if anyone else has come up against this and if so, how did they get around it?

Ok, so I just need to find a place in Christchurch that will do it.

yep.. you can send up to them and they'll return it... quite a few people recommend them and there work,
they rebuilt/uprated my stock evo clutch cover for me aswell (now 4400lb clamping force vs 2200lb stock),
i wouldn't hesitate using them again

quite a few people i spoke to wouldn't even machine a stock evo flywheel which was one piece

I guess shipping within NZ for a flywheel wouldn't be too bad.
