My rear wiper arm is looking very drab at the moment and I want to replace it. I want to upgrade to a slick plastic look like that of the Vauxhall Zafira 2005+ model. Its straight and I reckon will look better than the drab rusting metal. Plus Mitsy want nearly £50 for a replacement and Vauxhall only want £18.

The question is does anybody know if the fittings are universal for wiper arms i.e. all the teeth etc at the same spacings/depth or has anybody upgraded the look of the rear wiper arm at all and have any other suggestions/recommendations?

Thanks in advance

Not sure on the fitting but i know the rear wiper arms have been replaced before and think it might have been a VW part used. you might be better going to scrap yard for that.

...and if you do then take yours off and visually check, same with any possible replacements you may be able to get hold of to have a look at (Vauxhall dealer's parts dept?)

If galants and legnums has the same axle for the wiper arm, a wiper arm from Grandis will fit. Done this myself.

I also have a text from another post about wiper arms, but i only have the part numbers. Not sure what car it was from or whom i am quoting with this:

Shopping list (~65quid in total):
1x wiper arm assy [part# 8253A029]
1x wiper blade assy 305mm [part# 8253A030]
1x nut [part# MF430004]

1x wiper shaft cover (part# MR155768]
(bit between rear glass and wiper arm - only needed if yours is faded)

Could you tell me the measurement from the spindle to the end of the blade and also the length of the blade, please ?
Because going by the picture the arm/blade look a lot shorter than the stock one and I would need to make sure it clears enough of the rear screen.

Agree with tou, it looks shorte than the original one. If that is the case, the grandis arm may be better. I used that and it is the same length as the original one.

Anyway, it looks much better !

It looks a hell of a lot shorter in my pics due to the before pic being taken much closer than the after pic.

The measurements of the original are:

Length of Wiper Arm Assy - 11.5"
Length of Blade - 15.5"
From Spindle to end of Blade - 18.5"

Measurements of the Outlander 2:
Length of Wiper Arm Assy - 11.5"
Length of Blade - 12"
From Spindle to end of Blade - 16.5"

So the difference in coverage is only 2"

I had the same concern but after going out this morning in the rain it really hasn't bothered me I can hardly tell.
