we're talking "mitsi" dealer baby...i'm going to try your olden days "brake and clutch mechanic" as opposed to the dealer "technician" for the brake problem

On the brake subject i had a bit of travel and a soft feel to my brakes, I had the discs machined and new pads all round and it came right.

I have heard of car clubs who carry around business type cards and put them under the windshields or attached to the drivers window jammed in the crack So to speak advising them of the site and club and asking them to say hi/join?

We could look at doing that here with the number of Legnums/VR4's downunder!:cool1:

Pescha
16-08-2003, 04:11 AM
I use to do that for the charger club, even followed chargers around the streets till they stopped... I don't know how true this is but I heard from other clubs INSERT INTO post VALUES (can't remember which though) That owners drop these cards all over the carparks and management of which ever company ie 'the warehouse' contacted the president of that car club and gave them what for... Good idea though...

Cheers,
Pescha!

Isn't it great. When we mention VR-4 to the Aussies all they can think of is their Magna/Verada 4WD.

Our Galant is one hell of a sleeper. It will even give their new XR-6T a run for its money, especially on the twisty bits.

jtfleming
02-09-2003, 12:14 AM
Hey KiwiTT have you had a go against a XR6T? Would be an interesting comparo, those new Falcons are mighty fast!!!:devil3:

KiwiTT
02-09-2003, 01:31 AM
I wouldn't have the driving skill to do a real comparison. I do remember when the Nissan GTR did Bathhurst in 1m55s and the current Falcons and HSVs still took over 2m, sometimes 2m10s. The 4WD really handles the twisty bits better.

I did have an hot Falcon Ute tail me for a while. I entered the twisty bits with AYC at 3 bars and he was no where to be seen.

Later, I had to turn off and he came up behind me at the stop. He then revv'd up his motor as he went straight ahead. I suspect he was mighty annoyed/surprised.

Yet another new owner. Bought yesterday 96 VR-4 Sedan 5 spd manual, Leather AYC etc. Not looking to mod it for a wee while....mortgage is getting me down.

question: Has anyone had any issues with the turbo's on their cars? Just wondering for future thought. Will be getting a BoV for it though INSERT INTO post VALUES (quiet one) just to help the life of the turbos.

Oh yeah umm I'm in Whangaparaoa...for those that dont know wtf that is its just before Orewa about 30k's north of Auckland

Brind
22-09-2003, 07:21 PM
The turbos are pretty robust, unless you abuse the car there should be no reason why they won't last the lifetime of the car.
Assuming again if you service the car regulary, change oil, let the turbos warm up and cool efficiently.

Hey Spader, welcome to the VR-4 family. As you can see there are a number of us kiwi's here at this site. Please feel free to ask any questions, as the only question that is silly is the one that isn't asked! Also we have a picture department, remember us humans love photos photos photos!:D

Hope to see you in the chat room sometime....

Hi Guys, we got a 96 VR4 Tiptronic INSERT INTO post VALUES ( best compromise ever ) in Auckland.
No Mods but kept pristine, it's the wifes shopping basket and work hack ... Yeah Right !!
Awesome drive but eats the gas, needs a lot of TLC INSERT INTO post VALUES ( read money/service) and has the turning circle of a small locomotive. Absolutely beautiful car to push through those twisty bits, love that AYC !!!
We also belong to NZMMC, NZ Mitsubishi Motor Club, whhich are big on all Mitsi's although EVO's are the flavour. Lots of nice guys & gals there if you want to chk them out. NZMMC (http://www.nzmmc.co.nz)
You're going to have to call a meet and cruz somewhere soon so we can compare beasts.
NZMMC run drags and are busy incorporating so they can do MANZ licensing etc so you may want to chk hem out sometime.

talk to Andre at speedtech. $1200 would get you a SAFC installed and tuned. would get rid of fuel cut and allow you to run more boost while sorting out the ****ty fuel ratios on these cars.

$2500 would get you a basic ecu installed and tuned to do fueling and ignition and boost. these are the figures he gave me while chatting to me at autosalon.

P1, you will win cause I changed down to a 3.5" tail pipe recently. Found the big pipe to much of a boy racer magnet.

yea, it goes very well... from what i can remember, its been about 4 months now since i've seen her in the flesh :bigcry:

it managed 217bhp @ 7psi before i left, just wished i had more time to play with her, i only got to drive her for about 5 weeks after all the conversion work was completed :bigcry:
