Hi guys and girls, is there any particularly good dump valve you can recommend for the VR4 a mate has said he will buy me one as i "have to have one" personally im not too bothered but if it will shut him up (and he's paying) then i say why not

You can pay around £40/£300 for a DV. I have a cheap HKS copy of ebay that has been on the car for over 2 years with no probs. There are a few that recommend the ones from amber performance. Last time I looked they were around £80.

there is a couple of threads on this subject . but the 2 popular ones are the sard r2d2 and the hks ssqv i had the hks but changed for the sard, if you like loud the sard is the one to go for but brand new they are expensive.

looks ok mate you cant go wrong realy with a sard. mine was second hand and never had a problem with it bud. dont forget you also need a bung plug if your getting a vent to atmosphere dump valve.

Some SSQVs are adjustable, depending on the model.

As for fitting it straight away on the day you get the car, I would advise against this if possible. Give it a week or two of using the car normally before changing anything. That way, you can tell if there is something wrong more easily. Try to only change one thing at a time and again leave it a week or so between changes/upgrades. It's just that if you don't have a useful base reference because you didn't drive it when it was stock, it can make it harder to identify issues further down the line. The same applies if you change more than one thing at once - if you only change one thing and there is then a problem, it is usually with the last thing you changed. A problem becomes much harder to trace if you have changed several things at once.

When changing the dump valve should the ecu be reset for fueling and such?

low_vr4
