Does anyone 1 know? Or tried a set of GTO manifolds against VR4 manifolds?
Do they have the same centres to the bores? How much is the bolt pattern out? I can see from PDF's that the bolt pattern is the same, but not where the centres of the bolt holes are. Any help mucho appreciated.

i asked this question many years ago, i was told they would not fit.

Pretty sure they won't fit either Carsten..
But GTO Stainless manifolds are easily and fairly cheaply available. Modifying a stainless GTO manifold to suit VR4 and Rub GTO TD04's would be a much easier option than trying it with stock manifolds. And cheaper than custom built manifolds. Also the GTO Downpipe doesn't look a million miles different to that of the VR4. It would need some modification again, but easier than making from scratch and cheaper.

I'm sure your right Mike /yes
I'll change the Title of the thread to be more enticing for Ben to poke his head in :D

Actually I was asking myself the same question, but regarding downpipe elbows, they seems pretty much the same.

They don't look to dissimilar to me I'm sure if u had them side by side the gto downpipes could be cut and welded to fit the vr4

Yep.. I am sure this is doable without to much hassle.. /yes But he main reason for the thread is the fitment/modification of the GTO manifolds to the VR4.. If this is quite easily achievable with a bit of work. Then GTO Tubs on the VR4 will be an easier option /Hmmm

When it comes to the manifolds someone with more knowledge of our cars will know more than me but I shall watch this thread with interest

Glenn, but whole point is that stock TD04 from GTO are -9B, not much a gain, and massive hassle. Yes, there are kits to upgrade these tubbys to -13T, -15T or massive -19T, but it's pricey. What's more oil lines are different. Hence Scuibi turbos are much cheaper option being already -13T.
So big question is to find a balance value/effort/money in terms of fitting set of GTO turbos + manifolds vs. Scubi turbos and custom manifolds.

The main bone of contention will be the measurement to the centres of the bores. If they are the same? then i think the rest can be worked on ?

C'mon guys.. its looking at you dead in the face.. the gaskets are the same part numbers or are those not part numbers? the manifold to the head matchs.. i dunno why you dont just go custom. im poor but still think custom is cheaper.

those arnt part numbers, there ref# to drawing part location in asa/caps, which is the same for every car,
(which is cross referenced with the chassis number to give part number for you specific car)

they do give a different part number for gto and vr4 when selected :)

well that does suck... soooo.... just grab a spare Galant/legnum gasket and go to mitsubishi or local parts supplier and compare gaskets.. cost nothing and gives a definitive answer.

on a side note "sorry"... how do i find these part numbers?? can i do this from home?? what and where do i need to download? i need my car (7G) and fto mivec.

You will need to download ASA. Notably, the Japan ASA - not general or US.

The manifolds are indeed different Glenn, i would think modifying them to work would pretty much involve rebuilding them.

Cheers,

Ben.

The engine side of the manifolds are different, but what about the turbo side?

Just drooling over these; http://evilempireperformance.co.uk/gto-3000gt-shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=22_183_184

Main reason for the post is to subscribe to the thread but what about this as an option so then no need to change the pipes at all:

Don't know if there is anyone local who can do it or how easy to do yourself & get balanced as not at all mechanical but I personally would be happy with that dirt of power gain per tub

They clip the turbines from reading that link - people on here have had the turbines clipped and they didn't last long.
