Sorry Nige, the 1TB External drive has its own "wall wart" PSU as per the picture above, it won't take power over USB.

Regarding the RAM, I can't guarantee the working condition of the DDR2 RAM, but happy to test / fit it if you come round with the laptop (either to my work on my lunch break or home evenings / weekends).

The PSU says 12 Volts at 1.5 Amps, but I'd strongly advise not to run it straight from the car power supply, I'd use a regulator of some sort.

was gona run a regulator as there a few things i need to run as well

Yep, thats what the WinTV card will do, it's a TV tuner + composite input from camcorders / xboxes over PAL/NTSC (standard definition). It also includes a hardware MPEG2 encoder so it won't use much CPU to do the video compression (when used with the right software).

If they aren't having it then I would be interested. Is it all fully working, battery ok etc?

3ware 8006-2LP 2-port SATA Hardware RAID card PCI-X (64-bit but will run in 32-bit standard PCI ports) - £10

I noticed that one first now. Is this an ok raid controller?

I need a hardware raid controller in my server, since the softraid seems to fail. It supports raid1?

Fully working however the battery has given up the ghost, replacements are under 20 quid on ebay :)

Yours if you want it :)

Yep it does hardware RAID 1, but remember there's only 2 ports, you can do RAID 0, 1 and JBOD.

Although I haven't tried it with drives any larger, to limit the controller to 500GB is ridiculous, I've got no way of testing if it'll run the 2TB drive I've got either.

Hi Aaron, it is still available, it would be ideal for word processing and light internet surfing. There's currently no version of Office on there however, although it's not hard for people to come by that these days ;)
