Anyone ever tried the Vi Monitor? Is it fully working on VR4? Just curious I might buy a new one if its really work coz i dont like to see a performance gauges mounted everywhere on/in dashboard. Simple dashboard is most beautiful for me. One if its work is enough.

Need advice, mate, TIA

The VR4 is not OBD2 compliant, so it won't work, IMO. You need Evoscan to do that.

I'm patiently waiting for something called the Raspberry Pi (http://www.raspberrypi.org/) to come out to help me build a unique project like the Vi Monitor (or Blitz Touch BRAIN, Subaru Select Monitor etc etc), it's my plan to outfit it with a 4.3" or 5" Touchscreen monitor, mount it neatly in the dash and have it monitor just about everything on the car.

Watch this space :)

IMO with car pc you can do that with evoscan

Well guys any idea what all in one performance gauge just like vi monitor (good looking in shape n feature) works in vr4? I ve been doing a look for such thing like blitz r i color, dashhawk, bully watchdog gt and even HKS camp2 (pricey), magden (discontinued) and seems to me its not only expensive but i doubt it will work on vr4. I need ur advice. TIA

The evoscan GPS does it all plus it reflashing the ecu apparently. You can design your own gauges for it too

Yes, a carputer with Evoscan would do it (but cost you £500+)
Yes, EvoScan GPS would do it (but needs an OpenPort cable, so you're looking at £360+)
No, the Vi Monitor is not compatible with VR-4s (but at £129 its a good price)

It's my aim to build something that replaces the HVAC unit (climate control) for somewhere around the £150 bracket that provides nearly all of the features as the Vi Monitor, but tailored specifically to our cars whilst looking like it was fitted at the factory. Naturally, it will also perform the duties of the HVAC and even more.

A Defi ZD advance (http://www.defi-shop.com/products/advance_zd/summary_zd/)?

Have the control unit hidden away and you will be fine...

beautifull shape but I think Evo scan way simpler than defi. The evoscan is quiet handy and work perfect, i just dont like the shape. I think better to get the tomtech MDM 100, simple, works, way cheaper, informative. but the looks is not good

Love ur taste but i have to abandon my facelift MMCS to go with ur way, unless build the car pc and use mmcs as the monitor.
