I just noticed this article in the Herald online:
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/index.cfm?c_id=9&ObjectID=9002365

It mentions a number of high performance cars being stolen.

Quote from the above article:

"Last month, a high performance Mitsubishi Legnum VR4 worth $18,000 from Auckland Motors was used to ram the yard's gates and was driven away."

I guess it is in all our interests to follow this up, as one of our cars could be next on the list for these s**mbags. Is anyone in Auckland interested in contacting Auckland motors on behalf of the club to get details of the stolen car, engine numbers, VIN, etc so that we can be on the look out?

It would be positive for the club too, showing how responsible we are etc.

Any ideas?

I think it's unfair on car dealerships, as we all know regardless of how much you try to protect your car or business. Some scum will do anything to get. I wonder if it would be cheaper for dealers to have onsite security for at night. I'm sure they could get a cheaper rate if they had other dealerships go in it with them.

i hear from a m8's m8 who is in the police in brum ...that mitsy estates are often targeted for ram raids/robberies as they are fast and heavy.
dunno if there is much truth in it but makes sense imho :lipsrseal

The sigma estate and shogun are certainly heavy, but at 1350kg, the galant (GLS anyway) isn't particularly.
