Just found a split cv boot. Not too much of a worry, as I'm about to take the gearbox off, so the perfect opportunity to change it.

Are they the same as the V6 Sport? I hope so, as my local motorfactors will have them in stock.

I don't think so. I am pretty sure that the V6 doesn't have the scollops in the inner cup, so the boot isn't shaped. Not 100% but I think I am right.

arse

EDIT: £46 from camskill!!!! But judging from the part number they list, it's also used on a Grandis, so the stealership should hopefully have one in stock.

is it the inner divers side?

its a hi temp silicone boot (sits right by the down pipe), which is why the price is V-high.

you can use one from the pass side, its just a normal rubber boot and much cheaper, will do the job just fine.

No, it's on the passenger side. Good spot though, Gly. They list LH and RH separately. The LHS is a little cheaper, although not by much.

I'll try the motorfactors, and see what they've got, but I know when I say "Legnum" or "VR4" they'll just stare at me blankly...

Temporary I've used Ford Fiesta one. Not a perfect fit (bit short), but lasted for 10k miles, and cost me 6 quid.

Motor factors had a generic stretchy one. 8 quid :D

Good find Nick.
I knew there were other vehicle models sharing the same type. I remember when I was desperate to replace one being in PL, bloke working in old-school motoring shop took mine damage cv boot and said there is blah blah type, and also used in some Honda, Mazda (can't remember exactly), and to have temporary fix I can have right now similar Fiesta one or wait 2 days till he get proper one. And because I had to have my vr4 run immediately I got Fiesta one.

Ah, bugger - just gone to assemble it, and it doesn't have the scallops. Boo. Swinks, what model fiesta was yours from?

Nick, I honestly have no idea, totally forgot, it was 2 yrs ago and temporary measure. But it was very very stretch fit. Also I know that some other Japanese vehicles share the same type of cv boot, but can't tell you details.

No worries :) Ended up at the dealership in the end. All sorted.
