Recently got my galant rear to have a re-spray, costed me roughly 300 pounds
Rear side looks like new car but i am not totally satisfied
What criteria would u use to tell whether a paint job is done well?

For my case, i doubt the top clear coat is done too thin?

Difficult to comment based on just one picture though?

my criteria would be if i am satisfied with the end finish or not.
if not id go and complain about it.

how much of the car was painted?? what prep was done??
was it a hard edge/specific panels? or a blend in job??

you do get what you pay for, especially in the case of prep/paint.

I would ask before they do the job,
how many coats of primer and what colour
how many coats of colour
how many coats of laquor
are they going to put on. it is not the paint that give the deep shine, it is the depth of the laquor that does that, and it is the laquor that gives the protection not the paint.
i know it depends on thickness and coverage as to how many coats of primer and colour are used, but it shows you care, and you specify how many laquor coats you want. you will have to pay for it. as said above you get what you pay for usually. if pay £1000 for a full car respray job i very much doubt you will get the same quality job as if you pay £3000 for a full car respray, unless you know the person doing it and it is a favour to you.

The only real way to tell would be to find a area they sprayed that cant be seen and remove a small area and measure the thinkness that way you'd know for def on how much paint and laquer they have used

yuo dont need to do that there is a thing you can get which you place on the paint and it will tell you the thickness, i know this as mr vxrMarc from detailing world has one as he used it to check every panel of his estra before he bought it and applied 52 layers of wax to it! lol

Surely you don't mean a Paint Thickness Gauge! :D

As for VXRMarc - I'd forgotten about him and that Nurburgring Astra... :sunny:
