Hey all,

We are looking to buy a house soon and have come across a property that fits our requirements PERFECTLY in the Pleck area of Walsall. Unfortunately I cant find any reviews of the area online, bar a handful of comments on local takeaways!

So was hoping to get views off anyone who may have an opinion, good or bad. What do you make of the area?

I was using this (and similar) web http://www.neighbourhood.statistics.gov.uk/dissemination/
use green side NEIGHBOURHOOD SUMMARY, put postcode in and it will show you a lot of very handy info then compare that with know by you postcodes and you get some idea how bad/good it is.

this is helpful as well http://www.police.uk/ especially if you wont end up paying thousands for car insurance

Cheers Wodj, have seen some of those bits already, but they relate to Walsall, and was hoping for more of a local view for the Pleck area. Good stuff anyway, thanks.

I live in Yew Tree, which isn't too far away, but I've only been there for 6 months so can't really give much info! I will say though that your car insurance will probably go up, as mine went up loads when I moved here, so prepare to be shafted =/

pretty sure there was something in the paper about people being offered homes and cash incentives to move to walsall and they were still refusing to move there.. i dont even know where it is n have no idea what its like but reading that bit from the paper certainly didnt make it sound too good.

I lived in Pleck for years. It all depends on which road you are talking about. Two thirds of the area i would not touch with a barge pole. Personally i would stay where you are. Walsall is a dive, people are closed / inward and it's hard to get anything done there.

Sorry, but i moved nine times in Walsall before i moved out. Best decision ever.

I used to work with a guy that lived there. I never went to his house, but mutual acquaintances at the time took the p!$$ something chronic as the area apparently leaves a bit to be desired!

Hehe, thanks peeps! That has kinda sealed the deal. I was only looking as the house was offering a lot of space for the money, but I wasnt sure of the area. Will still go for a veiwing I think just to keep the whole house hunting experience going, but likely I wont put an offer in then.

On to the next one :)

When I was on the house hunt got similar view like you (get as much space as you could afford) but after talking with many ppl we decide to look as area first, simply due to fact that I could live in smaller space BUT without worrying to walk to the shop at 10pm or miss to be raped when walking from work (she work till10pm), not mention about schools, car insurance and the like.

We could buy a huge detached house in VERY rough areas, but like I said earlier, we end up in little bigger than average terrace and we are very happy with it and the area (just get renewal of car insurance for 605£), and the garage at the back which she is not very keen about (taking garden space), but for me that was a massive advantage.

Good luck with hunt, and wish you to relax during to home buying process.

Hah, yes, the stress involved with buying houses! We have only just started looking and its stressing me out with mortgages, searches, travelling, phone calls, agents, viewings, etc.

Wait till your life savings and hundreds of thousands borrowed money start flowing, that was not pleasurable time of my life and I never experience something like that before and since, bare in mind my daughter was born 19th of September and we got a keys for 'our' property 5 days later. I do not wish to go through this again, even to my worst enemy.

Can't say I blame you! From what I've seen of the place, I'm in one of the better areas, but I'm hoping to move soon - mostly to be closer to work, but it's still going to be nice to get away from this hole ;)

Remember when viewing, the most important room is the garage, and the garden should be big enough to accommadate several VR4's. The kitchen should be able to produce multiple mugs of tea and high calory food. Bedrooms, bathroom and lounge help but are not essential just useful for storing spare parts in. Best of luck in your search.

Thats why I was considering this house in Walsall... comes with a pre-built on-site garage with workshop and ramps in the back, so perfect for a car enthusiast. Just a shame its a crappy area!

The search continues...
