Have you tried changing it for a standard ECU to see if that solves the problem?

The engine ECU doesn't communicate with the SRS (airbag) ECU whatsoever, the fact you're getting that light says to me there's possibly a short someplace?

Take the cover off the ECU, check all the terminals are clean etc :)

Are you able to short pin 1 to earth on ODB connector and tell us the errors it's logged?

i am going to have another go with it this weekend and will get the fault codes to , just a thought the ECU dosent need to be bolted down (to earth it out ) does it cause all i have done is unplug mine and plug it in ?

Dont think it needs to be bolted down. My ECU is in the passenger footwell and has been for 6 months!

Thats how mine has been for 6 months Ian, and I dont have any of the warning lights that you get.
Incidentally, mine is also a black plastic ECU.

SRS light? That doesn't sound right.

I assume that the car continues to drive and feel ok?

I know NJ put an auto flashed ECU in a manual before and got some lights up hopefully he'll be along to comment presently.

Spoke to NJ last night seems Engine light is normal with an auto ecu in a manual car the ABS/SRS isn't tho.

Check your alternator voltage. It may be that the voltage is dropping low enough to trigger a fault.
