Hey guys,

I need to buy some new spring clamps but found £9 on ebay, they scare me!

Anyone able to recommend a set? - They are to be used on my TEIN Coilovers.

Cheers.

I have a set of the laser ones which I'm happy with and had a fair bit of work. Bought from a local motor factors so not sure about Halfords stocking them

I also bought a Laser set a couple of years ago, had one use from them and they are now sat at the bottom of the toolbox.

I reckon just borrow a set from somewhere as you dont really need to use them much!

That would be excellent - Will they fit on my coilovers?

sorry, nother question - did you put uprated springs on? - was there sufficient space beteen the springs when compressing?

I only used it to compress the springs to make the adjustment to the spring collars, but IIRC there was still plenty of space between each coil.

Whats your plan?

Am I being thick as far as I can remember you don't need them for adjustables.

You dont. The adjustable have their own collars which you just turn with the C-spanner. I didnt know this when I undertook the work a few years ago, so went and bought the clamps, but ended up using them as I couldnt shift one of the collars as it was under pressure.

I suspect Barry is looking to replace the springs?

Barry, why do you need spring compressors? You do not need them for coilovers at all. If you have put springs with a larger spring rate on, then they will also be shorter (unless you want your car to be 30' from the floor) so you have even less need for them.

When changing normal (fixed platform) springs then you have a bit more of an issue. You can get cheap spring compressors but trust me, when a compressor comes off a spring you certainly know about it. One nearly took my thumb off once.... They are nasty things to use and I try to avoid using those and relay on a pneumatic one (but then I'm a bit posh).

i have a couple of set of spring compressors you are welcome to borrow.
i used them on my tein HA's are you Teins adjustable coilovers, If so you may not need them. My HA's you can un wound the ride hight adjuster nuts all the way down the shock and the spring goes slack on the shock. it even takes the pressure off the helper spring as well.
