how much trouble is it to replace? we are talking about the top part that the nozzle fits into. open the flap and there are 4 bolts. that is the bit that is corroded, presumably something to do with the redex that i have been using for the past 6 months since there was no corrosion at all before then

you don't actually say what you are talking about, when you say filler neck, it could be autobox oil, engine oil, petrol tank.

i presume as you montion Redex you mean petrol tank filler neck.

thanks Steve. i had visions of the fuel tank having to be removed and who knows what else. sounds simple enough and therefore cheap to pay someone to do it once i find the part

Hope it's just a "model" image, cause it's definately not the 1996-2003 one on the picture...

there are several different models using that picture. i just didnt expect anything like that. i thought it would be around 18 inches long, not from the filler cap to the tank which is what that appears to be

Allright, the pipe shape is the same for all models of Galant/Legnum. But I believe that there's a restrictor inside the neck on V6, which VR-4 don't have... That's the only difference AFAIK

I've got a vr4 filler neck/pipes on my v6 sport from my white one & as Alex states the only thing that is different is the internal restrictor is on the v6 but not the vr4 one

I also think that the early v6 does not have this piece within the pipe & one of my vr4's has also had this, so it's pot luck & really doesn't matter if it has or not cause the restrictor is a pain in the arse.......

It might be aftermarket stuff. I think that UK imports have the removable alloy restrictor inside the neck as part of euro-"assimilation"

Most cars imported to the UK have an aftermarket addition to stop diesel nozzles going in. UK cars that were built for the UK originally have the restriction built in to the pipe.
