:Cry1:
today i took it upon my self to.............put my car OFF THE ROAD!.......i'll miss driving it and ..erm thrashing it! but it's time has come for some fresh underseal, some detail work and some more power?
i'm sure i saw a tear in one of the angel eye's when i went out in my £100 Astra?.."1.4 of sheer power :dozey: "..... well it may only be a GLS but it's with me till one of us pop's,and it's in need of a rest and some new oil
even my wife (jacque) was "taken aback" with my desition.but even after 2 an a half year's of ownership i love to drive my G,and it was not an easy step?
so all going well (and to plan) when i come to a meet down-south,my G will be a rolling peice of freshness!

also if i come across anything helpfull i'll post pici's and result's...so all in all,i may be-able to help other's?

i'm awf to drown myself in a vat of 4.2% miller's......not all bad new's!

My VR4 has been off the road for the past month now. (excepting the odd weekend - ie now :$ )
The GTI (Rover 216) is a breath off fresh air and soooo much fun in the wet. :)
I get 30+ mpg while still thrashing the nuts off it, and compared to the VR4, it feels like a go-kart. Its only got 130PS, but that combined with its low kerbweight, front wheel drive, and very firm suspension means its a little rev happy, lift off oversteering, constant wheel spinning, bundle of fun powered by mere pennies.... :-D :-D :-D

(still looking to get a little 200sx as a winter project car, though - snow, ice and turbo powered rear wheel fun - my god, will I ever grow up??????)

Good luck Ian, and as Red said keep, keep us posted with news and pics.

It's funny too because we have had the new Golf GTi delivered this week and all the staff are dribbling over it and fighting to take it out on a test drive......my response was, looks ok but it's only got 200Ps

(Secretly though I will take her out just to see if I can get the back end out a bit around a few roundabouts ;) )

yeah it is Nick,i spent a week getting the paint work up!,took the nasty black rubber moulding's of,fitted some comfort item's..eletric aireal,CD player 57i induction, splitfire plug's,new lead's a service and a little piggie back box of goodies added to the ecu.it passed the MOT with not a problem and apart from the cost of the MOT,Tax and buying it ive only spent £10 on getting it legal and safe 2 new bolt's & spring's for the down pipe and 2 new pin's for the gear linkage everything else ive added was just some item's ive had from earlier Vauxhall's
it's looking and going pretty good :D i payed £100 for it and ive been offered £450 so all the above come's to £100+10+60.50 (tax)=£170.50,i dont count the insurance as ive alway's got a second policy running.so even if i sell it in the new year..."i cant lose"

 yeah but she know's what side her bread is buttered! ;)

i have a simple but effective way of working...i usually spend no more than £300 +£100 for fixing it up at a time on a small car in need of some TLC.and when ive finished with it and then sell it and the profit goes into a "rainy day fund" and i keep £300 aside for the next small car

i normally go for escort's and fiesta's as they sell on with no prob's,i also allow for no more than £100 for fixing them up i give them a good going over before i buy so as i know i'll atleast get my cash back when i sell it.
ive been doing it for a few or more year's and ive never lost yet broke even on some but usually i do alright :D .best sell so far was a cavalier SRI i bought it for £60 (non runner),put a new earth strap on it =runner ;), 2 new rear spring's MOT and sold the next week all in it cost me about £130 i sold it for £535..it was a cracking car though well worth the cash i got for it
