View Full Version : I'v just put my cat back on for its MOT.
Can't believe how much quieter it has made my car.
I took the Cat off the car about 3 years ago when I fitted the RPW downpipes & did the de-cat at the same time. A couple of months later I got a cat back system fitted to the car & it has run like that since.
The members who have seen my car will know its loud. The last 2 Japfest's it came in at 99DB at the sound test.
The car has passed its MOT the last 3 years with the de-cat on but the rules have changed & the cat has to be on the car. MOT is on Tuesday so wish me luck:)

Good luck! It will hamper your performance too, though. I keep wondering about a sports cat....

or get a spare cat and cut and weld it around a decat pipe so first glance = cat in place!!!

dont the emissions test? making putting a decat in a car pointless
Car used to pass its MOT with de-cat cause our cars came up on the system as a no cat car. Phil (phosty) & Peter both use the same garage as me & they were told that they had to put the cat back on there car & why I have done it for this MOT.
Edit: You only do an emissions test once a year so a de-cat is best fitted for more power the rest of the year/yes

Good luck with the test Andy
Car failed MOT:( Couple of little things. Inner CV boot burst, front drop links loose & lambda readings to high.
Not worried about the first 2 cause they are easy fixes. It's the lambda readings. Don't know what the figures are yet but no idea how I'm going to sort that one.
Picked up the car & have got the figures.
They did 2 Fast idle tests. Max limit is 1.030. My car in the first test was 1.181 & second test was 1.127
The CO & HC was fine so it looks like the sensor is going?

Andy take it out & clean it with brake cleaner, works a treat but make sure you dry it completely first before re-fitting.
Andy take it out & clean it with brake cleaner, works a treat but make sure you dry it completely first before re-fitting.I may try that. With it running so rich for a while there is a possibility it has got chocked up.

I am due mot again over here next month lets hope i pass again this year with the decat as im too lazy to put the cat back in ha ha
CV inner boot & drop links sorted today. Also trying Steve's suggestion with the break cleaner on the Lambda. Re test tomorrow at 8am & the guy said he will do the emission test straight away. So I'll rag the tits out of the car before I get there. Wish me luck.
Failed again on Lambda reading :bigcry: Spraying the Lambda with break cleaner never worked. Managed to get it down too 1.121/wall
Got a couple of Lambda's off Peter T at lunch time today (Thank you Peter your a star/yes) & spent the afternoon fitting downpipes & new lambda.
Go's back in tomorrow morning at 8am again. Fingers crossed that its third time lucky If not I'v ran out of ideas except the Innovate MTX-L Wideband Gauge that Jason is doing the GB for.
There may be another Legnum being broken soon:(
All my hard work yesterday paid off/yes new MOT for another year ;):)
