Thanks, but I have to consider the extra insurance costs and fuel consumption.
I thought panel filters would be the better all rounder.

I've got a V6 2001 sport. I got the airfilter part num from mitsubishi and contacted KN for an equivalent. KN came back to say that they do not do an equivalent? I'm pretty sure that they do.....

I buyed an air filter K&N 6 month ago.
but it's an air filter like the original mitsubishi one, not a direct admission.

I'm waiting for my new muffler to say if it's good or not ;)

Yeah, airbox is the same dimensions I think. I'm sure it's 33-2794 for both of them.

For the GLS I used 33-2147.

You seem to get different options for different years. I searched on 1997, mitsubishi, galant, 2.5l.

One of the three options is the link I posted. On that page is a product applications link which states the filter is good for 2.5l V6 non-US and 2.0 I4 non-US GLS.
