Hi guys,

Not sure who to ask about this so thought I'd try here.

Got ripped off on a VR4 I bought/traded recently, and one of the many issues is the bellhousing has a massive crack through it.

Bought a new bellhousing, and when I tried to remove the old one from the gearbox it won't budge? I can get it about an inch apart, then something attached to the bellhousing catches?

Its a 1988 Galant (Evo 0 shape) if that helps at all. Gearboxes are a magical box that just works for me, so I dont really know where to start? :uhoh2:

Cheers for any help
Chris

If it's a pull type clutch (many mitsubishis are).. you need to release the thrust bearing.

I made a video about this:

evo 0 are push clutch im sure and im pretty sure hes asking how to get the bellhousing off the gearbox not how to get the gearbox off the engine
on the late model gearboxes there are bolts holding the selector forks and shifter mechanism in place. 3 of these bolts are under the gearbox mount. so you need to pul them out before the gearbox will come apart

from that pic looks like the 3 bolt/spring/ball bearing combinations made up of numbers 9/10/11 are the 3 that you will be having trouble with
