MPG???? Better than I expected. or is this a serious error?

My VR4 sig tells me that I'm hitting 28 mpg?
What happend to the Fuelly version telling me I was on 18mpg? And that was making sure I had it set to UK values.

your calculation is correct.

but did you really do a full fill tank to full fill tank.
did you brim the tank to the filler neck (so you can see the petrol) or rely on the pump cutting out, and how many times did you let the pump cut out before saying it is full, did you do the same number of cut outs each time.
did you use the same pump to fill up both time, that can make it a bit more reliable, as different pumps can have different cut off points.

these are all variable that can effect mpg figure.
brim tank to brim tank is the only real way to do it.
