Today I bought a litre of power steering fluid. At least thats what I asked for.
Tonight I syphoned out the old fluid, put in some new fluid to pump the old fluid out of the system.
As I began to pour, I noticed the contents were like a fine mineral oil, rather than the red colour I'd be used to.
On the lable is printed gl4 mineral gearbox oil, and written on the back in felt marker is ATF in large bold letters.
Have I got the wrong fluid for misubishi power steering ???

Same here. Amsoil ATF. It'll do the trick perfect. And it can withstand more "abuse", last longer and keep cooler compared to dexron III.

As said manufactures spec for power steering isn't SPIII, it is dextron III

Amsoil ATF exceeds the spec of Dexron III (No T in it!) so is fine in the power steering. I can't believe it is a critical system that needs an incredible oil in it though, so if you need to go and buy some specially then Dexron III is fine.
