I was just looking at the evoscan website and noticed that the Android page has had an update for the first time in over a year allegedly it's coming in June so fingers crossed Hamish will actually manage to get it out at last.

looks like it uses USB OTG and an openport cable I'll be interested to see what the pricing is like when it lands as running this off my phone or a cheap android tablet would be a nice budget ICPC option.

Gonna be helping Hamish with this, although I don't think it'll be using USB OTG, it'll favour ELM-based Bluetooth diagnostic adapters.

Really would a generic bluetooth-OBD gizmo work with with our MUT-II cars?

Mitsubishi follow ISO9141 standards, should work fine. It's not the hardware thats the problem, everything follows the standard (OBD connector wiring, 5 baud init, etc etc)

MUT is the protocol used to query the ECU, and it's up to the software (evoscan, MUT Tool) at either end to interpret it.

I think the confusion is because we need special hardware for flashing.

Even the flashing hardware follows sae standard (j2534), its the software and procedure needed to flash that is unique.

Yes, but there is only currently two or three solutions for flashing the ECUs in our car, giving the perception that special hardware is needed. That's what I meant.

Not quite Evoscan but this looks pretty cool for android devices! http://www.hks-power.co.jp/en/products/electronics/monitor/ob-link/index.html

In case anyone hasn't seen it yet... http://forums.evolutionm.net/ecuflash/633597-new-evodroid7-evoscan-android-gps-logger-reflashing-carpc-touchscreen-review.html

Think I'll be hanging on for a separate cable and software as I already have a few android devices knocking around (and I'm not convinced of Hamish's ablity to hit targets). Although £130ish for a touchscreen carputer with evoscan is pretty compelling.
