It makes things a heck of a lot easier - I did it when I ran a 2ga and 4ga run from the boot.

You can also use the grommet to the side of the main loom as well - mine had wiring in it (probably due to it being a FL with ASC/TCL) but there was enough room to run a cable or three through. Just remember to seal it all back up nicely, otherwise the car leaks.

I'm trying to decide on which battery i want to get, looking for some advice..

I've read through the threads linked in my Battery to boot, examples (http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?63815-Battery-to-boot-examples) thread, two main points i took away are high cold cranking rate and get a sealed battery to save on having to deal with ventilation.

So, looking at Performancebatteries.co.uk (http://www.performancebatteries.co.uk/search/) i have a short list, critaria are Min Cold Crank (EN? or SAE?) of 600 and Sealed Calcium (which i presume means its sealed?) and max size of 279 x 188, so that if fits a new battery tray (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BATTERY-TRAY-HOLD-DOWN-CLAMP-11-x7-UNIVERSAL-R-/360418213945?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item53ea998039) which will live in a Battery Box (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-Boat-Outboard-Battery-Box-327mm-x-186mm-/260794521478?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_BoatEquipmen t_Accessories_SM&hash=item3cb8909786) (327 x 186)

I can't afford to spend to much on a battery, there for i have these two options, thoughts?

http://www.performancebatteries.co.uk/product/096+-lpt-Exide-rpt-/
http://www.performancebatteries.co.uk/product/096+-lpt-Yuasa-rpt-/

I suppose first question is, have i searched for the right criteria?

Sealed Calcium
Min Cold Crack (SAE) - 600

The Exide seems to be good - I've never dealt with Yuasa. I'm running a 500cca battery at the moment which is plenty for starting the car and running the sound system for a while.

Also look at the reserve capacity if you are planning to have anything running without the car on - you don't want to be stuck with a flat battery.

ive never had a problem with either brand,

had Yuasa'a in my bikes, and exide's in my cars

anything 500cca will be more than adequate, if its particularly cold in your area, higher CCA will bet better

and as dan has mentioned, look into reserve capacity if you need something that will keep accessories happy after the car is off
